Only this government would create a law to wear masks... then simultaneously u-turn it by allowing anyone to exempt themselves verbally.

Oof, the stuff that's coming out about Our Glorious Leaders' verboten Xmas parties is... wow.

People say there was a party. Oh, no, there was no party.
Footage comes out of someone joking about the party they just had. Sudden TV interview cancellations, definitely no party and if there was a party it followed all the regulations at the time.
    And now...

The Haunted Pencil himself. At a party. Making jokes about social distancing, and how everyone is "at least two inches apart." While some braying toryboy laughs himself silly. Now, okay, that's apparently from a more recent party - but cracking jokes about how "the police won't be investigating *this* party in a year's time" is, at the very least, in poor taste.

Once upon a time, I'd have said that'd be curtains for 'em. These days? I wouldn't be surprised to see "CON +2" in the next voting intentions poll...

JRM giving a shining example of the contempt they hold us all in.

Mind you after getting northerners to vote for them I'm not surprised they think they can do anything.

A friend of mine just messaged me to say that 500 people died of covid the day of that party last year. I haven't checked it myself but it wouldn't surprise me.

Edit: checked, it was 514 on 18th December 2020

    Moderna booster this morning.

Now is it this one that turns me into a reptile and the Pfizer into an amphibian or is it the other way around? I forget.

Heatlamp and paddling pool both ready to cover all eventualities.

The missus had her booster yesterday, which was also Moderna. I'm pleased that's the direction they seem to be going: I read a study this week which suggests going Any Other Vaccine then Moderna results in anything up to a 76x increase in immune response (depending on which vaccine you started with) compared to just using the same vaccine for all the jabs.

They still won't let me book my booster, the buggers. No word on under-12s yet, either, so neither of the kids have even had their first.

Funny you should say that. I've had 3 doses of Pfizer and now find I need to keep my skin wet...

The OH had hers a little while ago as NHS - hers was the Pfizer this time around.

Yeah the mix n match is the way to go, coincidentally it's now all the companies that aren't making and selling at cost price like AZ, not that it did AZ's share price any harm.

Managed to get my booster booked for Thursday, a day before The Right Honourable Worzel Gummidge told every adult in the land to book and crashed the site.

Booked my booster (for the 22nd) sunday evening just after BoJos announcement; but then found out by the grapevine that local centres were doing walk-ins, so just did a walk in yesterday eve, so i'm now all boosted :D

Was in, jabbed and out in just shy of 30mins, so happy enough.
The wife went down today, got there before they technically opened, and was seen instantly!

Rang the nearest walk-in, and they reported no queues - so I'm now Moderna'd up, two days earlier than expected. Ta for the tip!

If you're not hung on up brand, you can pick up units with a - claimed, I admit - equivalent CADR for a tenth the cost. No formaldehyde removal, admittedly, but you don't need that for COVID.

Or just build these. Cardboard box, furnace filters, cheap fan, loadsa gaffer tape, job's a good 'un. Get the kids involved, make it an activity.

UC Davis study suggested the $75 variant of that could achieve 165-239 CADR depending on fan speed, while subsequent reports suggest 600 CADR is possible. Dyson's stuff tops out at 163 CADR for particulates and 53 CADR for formaldehyde - figures so poor for its pricing category that the company spends half the product page trying to convince you CADR is meaningless because Dyson Magic!
