I am going by the average RRP. Witcher 2 for example = £34.99. Now it's been out a little while you can get it at £24.99.

I'm still not paying £30 though and probably not even £24.99. If you know you're going to get hundreds of hours out of a game then of course £24.99 is perfectly reasonable. I don't think I'm willing to invest in any game for that long any more so probably my best option is to wait until it's been out for a while and get a bigger discount (which it seems is what I've been doing for some time).

I may make an exception for battlefield 3 though. Who knows.

Erm, why are you going by RRP? Does anyone actually pay RRP? No.

Well Mr Smarty Pants, I have seen quite a few games including Battlefield series at £32+ during the few few weeks of release. After that you start to see £27.99 and some time later again maybe down to £24.99 but initially the price is above £30.

And yes there are some people who will pay RRP because they will be playing the game for a long time.

Based on what I've said previously, I'm not paying £29 for a game either. It would have to be exceptional and I'd have to be sure I'd be playing it for long enough.

So, it doesn't matter one bit. End result is the same. Now, my grandpa used to say that whenever someone got into a strop over something trivial, a good punch in the head worked wonders. Do you think you'd benefit from one of those?

You cheap skate you have an sli rig that can run Crysis 2 in dx11 but you won't pay more than £14.99 for a game.

Yea I loved Mirrors edge as well got it on release, oh look no Mirrors edge 2 ! Thanks for that you douche.

Don't try and justify your self on these forums your nothing but a cheap thief, just GTFO !

My my, someone's in a grumpy mood. This coming from the guy complaining about game pricing "fuelling" his piracy! Pivotal matters akin to world hunger and AIDS!

In my opinion the cost of games are a non issue. The bigger issue its the sense of entitlement that people seem to have.
To explain, I have recently bought bfbc2 in the steam sale and I love it. I can not afford to buy bfbc3 on release at 30 quid, ok I can afford it but can't justify it as money is tight and 30 notes goes a long way. I will not pirate the game though, I'll sit it out and buy it at a discounted priced in a sale at some point.
People want stuff that they can't have and this is the problem as I see it.

Me too now. 4 bought last week as I recall. Christmas Steam is also great but I am not ready for christmas bollocks yet.

It's a conundrum you see. I have an SLI rig (liquid cooled) precisely because I refuse to pay more than £14.99 for Crysis 2 :)

I hope there will be a Mirror's Edge 2. Mirror's Edge 1 with nude HD patch is great.

You see if I pay less for games then I can donate more to charity each month. Thank you for raising that point.

Agree. And that's the basis for most of the crimes committed. It's a drug that we get a fix from. Brings temporary relief but soon we need the next fix. We live our lives that way. Always looking for the next high.

How many games do I need to be playing at once anyway?

I think that you could drop the price of a game to 99p and there will still be a number of people who would pirate it as they feel they deserve it without paying. Music is a prime example you can buy a track for 50-99p iirc. I've not bought our downloaded music in a long time, people still torrent it though because they feel entitled to it. I have a strong moral compass on the whole and I see the illegal download of games, videos music etc no different to stealing.

Mass Effect 3 will cure those issues, as well as bring mankind to a new era of peace and prosperity.

Speaking of which, I'll be one of those idiots dropping £55 on the Mass Effect 3 special edition. Why? Because Bioware are fecking awesome and I want them to make more games.

    n00b, I've got double that

In my case, super well worth it. BTW I did download the single player and liked it so much I went out and bought the game retail at full price. In my case, super well worth it.

    there's your problem.

stop looking at graphics, start invest time in enjoying the gameplay.

a 5 hours Blops non-stop Michael Bay sequence is definitely not worth a penny, therefore, don't buy it. on the other hand, enjoyment in cat+mouse for 50 hours on Dirt 3 is well worth even retail price of £30.

go find some friends and play coop or multiplayer with them (perhaps give them one of your graphics card, sell your vibrator for to support game developers). stop complaining on the internet about price of games, you got no right to pirate, especially when you have SLi graphics and a vibrator rigged to your chair.
