Modding The Crap PC In A Shoe Box!!! Weird Mod!

Yes, I have a really awfull computer, in a nike shoe box!!! ​

This was first my nans PC (that would explain why its so rubbish), and because she didn't use it, she thought that I may have a use for it. Even though it takes about 30minutes to even ask for my login password?
And she was actually right in thinking that I would have a use for it......

...So, what was I going to do with a virtually useless PC in my room???

I was going to try and make it suffer as much as I can and take the hole thing appart, just to see how crap it was! LoL And once I was finnished, I was going to box it (put it in a shoe box!). LoL

So I started buy un-screwing it all (mobo, drives, case).
Then I took out the crap 56k modem (with that awful dial-up sound speeker on it) from one of the Pci slots!
I then took out the oldest Sound Blaster going. (Worth about 20p)
I began to take out the graphics card, I am unsure of what it is but its got 8mb momory
I then took out the 1998 AMD sempron (i think), all I know is that it has "AMD-K6-2" on it???
I then took out the RAM, there were 3 bits of ram in the 3 ram slots. Two of these was 16mb @ PC 133 and the other one was 64mb @ PC133. WOW Thats a total of 96mb of SD-Ram @ PC133.
I then took out the Maxtor 10gb Harddrive.

Once the bit of the old PC were on my sofa, I went in hunt for an old shoe box.

When I got my box (new pc case), I decided to put the motherboard in it and put all of the other bits inside.

semprons werent untill this year. the K6's were Athlons or Durons. then the K7 was the Atlon XP and K8's the AMD Athlon 64. Semprons are stripped down K7s or K8s.

ohh and by the way.... how is this a mod gone wrong... it hsnt even started yet. there are actualy some really good shoebox cases out there. i had a link to a site, but its on my newer rig that is temporarily out of commision.

I moved it from Project Logs as it didn't look like a serious mod ("I was going to try and make it suffer as much as I can and take the hole thing appart, just to see how crap it was! LoL ") but if it turns out interesting it may get moved again...

 

The K-6 was the chip before the athlons and were skt 7 based. the frist k-7 was the athlon slot A( I still have 2 of them) and went to athlon XP all athons were K-7 generation with the A64 being K-8 .The K6 line was called K-6,K-6II,K-6III and have very bad fpu preformance the III version inproved this but was not comparble to any intel offerings.But all in all sound like an intersting project.

 

thanks for clearing that up. i kinda said it without being sure, but i went with it. i was second guessing whether the K6 was the athlon.

 

Yes thats it, on the mobo it says socket 7

 

i have a comp thats almost the same as that. its not too crappy, its just pretty crappy. mine is a game console now, it plays NES/SNES and MAME emulators.

tbh though, this isnt really much of a mod. you could do this in 20 minutes with nothing but a screwdriver and a exacto blade. its hardly anything in comparison to some of the other mods going on on the internet. good job though.

heres a good idea. put it back together in a real case, and make it a server or some random case mod project. a shoe box pc is just stupid, i have to be honest. unless, it was a "hidden" computer, where it has no holes and stuff and looks just like a normal shoe box, but its actually a MP3 server or something. that would be actually functional.
