Didn't Pardew get something like a 6yr contract? That's going to take a lot of cash to get rid of him if he did, what we need more than anything is a bit of stability.
Mancini's contract was 5 years... 12 months later he's gone... the length of the contract offered isn't much of an indicator nowadays... I don't see Newcastle winning the 13/14 sack race, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Pardew's gone before the end of the [upcoming] season
Well a interesting end to the season, though could have done with Walcott putting it away for 2-0, as 1-0 did look very fragile. Spurs had the 7 point lead and lit it slip away, if they keep Bale will he still have the same form or would it be better to sell for £50-60 million and buy in a few good players. Teams for the title next year will likely be United/Chelsea and either Arsenal/Liverpool depending on how they buy during the summer. City will see alot of changes and it will likely take a season or 2 for them to get going, Everton im not sure about as it will depend on who Moyes takes with him to United and who the new manager is. Pardew could be sacked but is it a cost Newcastle can afford, as the money could be spent on better players, also is their a suitable replacement available. Its going to be a interesting summer, hopefully the CL final next weekend should be good.
They are only a few players short of a good team, if they loose Suarez then it will set them back but they are looking better.
However, if it's like any other recent season they probably won't bother buying those good players. It's not like they'll buy another Andy Carrol or Henderson.
Ooh, transfer gossip time. Monaco are going to be the next Man City. But a very good one at that. And Bale's agent seems to be trying to get him to leave.
How can you be a good or bad city. Both won't be in the champions league once fair play is activated as niether will be only 20mil losses by that stage. City's spending has been good for the premiership its broke the monopoly of the top 4 and increased tv revenue by doing so.
we have what, just shy of 100 league clubs? if we go by 'recent league winners' we only have 3 big teams, 4 at a stretch if you count arsenals last title. hell, there are only 5 winners in premier league history. I think the 4th or 5th percentile is probably a bit too elitist a measurement of a 'big team'. if you drop back a couple of years ago then there'd only be 3 'big teams' with a league win in the previous 15 years, it's just not an appropriate measure. i'm no fan, but liverpool are a big club. also, i'd far rather watch/support/see a 'good' team over a 'big' team. I see it as a far greater achievement for lille/montpellier or blackburn winning a league title when they have; and i don't for a moment think it means they transformed overnight into a big team.
Wait, they've actually bought him? I popped SSN on this morning and it said they'd just put a bid in. Also, Chelsea will be having a jerk fest right now.
