Good news on that OCUK custom 970 (the one with the 980 PCB and cooler): it should come with a TDP limit of 125% instead of 110%.
+1 only core and memory clocks show max, temp and rest are on current value. However constant boost at 1516.4 MHz is quite impressive. What was the base clock? 1330MHz?
Stock! STOCK! You disgust me! I honestly didn't even try it. You'll get a tiny bit of judder even running 980s - but its more SDK/engine related than anything else. Just get the fastest GPU you can afford, and avoid SLI like the plague - it introduces a boat load of latency to head tracking.
Hi all, I have a hardware itch that I need to scratch! Currently have a GTX770 and a GTX580 that I have been holding onto as a backup. Could my current system (PSU mainly I guess) take a 970 upgrade? What kind of performance increase would I be looking at, rough percentage wise? And finally, how much do you think I might get for selling each of the existing cards? Clearly I like the idea of a cheap upgrade
Yes, your current system will take a 970, and yes the PSU will handle it, plus you will likely see a LARGE increase in framerate Chuck up a price check thread in the MP for the other two cards, but you might manage about 150 on the 770 and 80 on the 580 (maybe)
Ah. Cant remember who it was, but someone had an enermax one pulling over 600w with sli 480s. Might have been bloggins but cant find the thred now.
Not tried GTX 480 SLI yet but did do GTX 480 with a 8800GT for PhysX... http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=228961 Always on the lookout for a cheap GTX 480 to attempt SLI with that rig!
When it was £350 I was thinking 970 all the way, but at £300: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-078-ZT Is very tempting. Thoughts?
