Sanding definitely not but painting is a real possibility.

If you got that one would you really need to paint it? should fit in well with the white being nikel plated.

Yep might work and if it did not then I could still paint it.

had to email the vendor of my card.

There is a big huge button on the back of the card and I am really wanting to know what the heck it does.

Galax 980 HOF edition ,huge clicky button with no documentation as to what the heck it does.. :D

Updates when I get it, does every 980 have this button?

Believe the button just ramps the fan speed to 100% and allegedly bumps the power delivered to the GPU!

So everytime you want to use this button you have to reach round to the back of the case to press the thing? Who on earth thought that was a fantastic design feature I wonder?

And no my OCUK GTX 980 does not have this feature.

This is a cardinal sin, punishable by stoning.

Never check the price of hardware you recently bought! Just know someone has it up for £x0 less somewhere!

OCUK are simply reacting to the spike in demand for 980. Why charge so much less than everyone else for a reference model? They've just closed the gap.

I was not checking I wanted the link for someone but I accept you are probably right. Still it could have been worse it could have dropped by 30 quid.

I like afterburner because you can open up the graphs to full screen and have a good look back at performance.

Not tried 3DMark but compared to your score of 4354 in the Valley Benchmark I get the following...

... that's with no attempt overclocking the GPUs.
