Are you aware of the new rules on mobiles in cars? The BBC has the low down on the new legislation being intoduced: In three weeks a new law will come into force banning drivers from using mobile phones while at the wheel. Only it's not quite as straightforward as that... Traffic police are going to have their work cut out come 1 December, when new laws come into effect clamping down on drivers using mobile phones. A quarter of drivers who know about the law will ignore it, according to research by a mobile headset manufacturer, Jabra. The same survey found 40% of motorists were unaware of the new legislation, which is designed to promote safety on the road. On top of that, among those that are aware, there is widespread confusion about what exactly is outlawed. More here Read it, and avoid a £30 on the spot fine.
We've had this law in Hong Kong for 2 or 3 years but you are permitted to use handsfree. I think it is safer anyway and at least you're allowed handsfree. Are you not allowed to use the phone completely in the UK?
You've missed the point there - It's if you have to hold the phone when you do hit the recieve call button - implying you only have one hand on the wheel. If the phone is in a cradle, you're OK - as it would be like (as you rightly point out) changing the station on the radio or hitting some other control button on the dash.
Ah, I'd read it as the bolded bit being another point not a continuation of what was said earlier... Phew, means ill still be able to use my phone and kit then.
