When is the iphone4 out? any release dates? I was going to get an HTC desire in a few months, but now i may consider the new design iphone, it looks good.... opinions?

 

June 24th, will be at the current 3GS pricing apparently with the 3GS sliding down into the 3G price bands.

 

iPhone OS 4, which Apple now refer to as 'iOS 4' will launch on 21st June. Supposedly will be a free upgrade from the previous version

 

I can haz black iPhone 4, hmmm? Come on O2, put up prices and availabilty!

 

Video calling looks a bit pathetic- iPhone to iPhone exclusive, WiFi only for now. My WinMo phone 2.5 years ago managed better than that.

Rest looks good though...that dpi is ridiculous. If I was an American buying a new phone I'm not sure if I could cope with deciding between this and the Evo 4G.

It's also interesting to see how they made no mention of the Mac, which just further suggests that they're pouring more time into iOS than OSX.

 

I'm failing to see what would make anyone want to spend money on an iPhone 4 tbh. Apart from the increased screen resolution all it's done is add features the original iPhone should have had at launch and all other smartphones have had for years.

I must say, looks very nice. I have a severe case of Gadgetenvyitus, and I only bought my Motorola Milestone in January

Side-note: it has more vertical pixels than my 19inch monitor.

I NEEED to get rid of this 3G. I can't use it anymore the speed drives me nuts

 

4G - better hardware than the Desire.

 

i'd say iphone 4 for the screen alone. i say this before i've seen it, but from the numbers it looks like it _will_ blow you away in terms of image quality. That DPI rating is quite frankly obscene.

 

I have just got a 3GS and now it feels old

 

Without a jailbreak i don't think I'll be able to cope with the OS though :-(

 

But is that really that important? Yes the DPI quoted for the screen is amazing but at the end of the day it's still only a 3.5" screen, how much time are you really going to be spending showing stuff off on it? And will anyone really care that much that it's got 326 pixels per inch?

 

It's good because the device is designed to browse the mobile web (nice sharp small text) and is now going to have iBooks.

 

I'm a bit disappointed about the lack of storage in the iPhone 4 to be honest. 32 gig is old when my iTouch has 64 gigs.

But I still want one!

 

I'm just wanting the O2 pricing. Making the assumption that it'll be the same price as the current 3GS pricing however and its an attractive prospect.
I've got a launch 3G so for me this is a nice step up, less so for 3GS owners but Apple seem intent to do this "half a gen" leap thing that they have been doing for their devices in the last few years. Just tag a new feature or a slightly faster CPU to keep people won over for another year then release the proper new hardware a year later.
