Hi, Remember me? I'm ... cheap... something.
Last we talked, I was in solder limbo. I've done a ton of little bits that didn't deserve photos. Play 'spot the changes' if you wish. -Even this pic is outdated.
-I mounted the motherboard to mark the ports. The ports stick out past the edge of the board, so the back panel got some temporary spacers.
-A tracing of the I/O plate was lined up and taped to the panel.
-After scribbling the individual ports on the plate with a marker, the ruler and fine point pen came out. Cutting out the individual ports wouldn't work because of the material thickness, and I'm lazy. :p
    [IMG]
-Rough sawed. The pic is tiny because you really don't need a good picture of the inside of my trash can. ...or do you?
-Here I'm filing the edges. The clamps stop the horrific ringing sound.
-I need to widen that one bit by the USB ports. I got too close there.
-I cut some tiny purple motherboard spacers, then found they wouldn't fit a 6-32 screw. My senile ass drew up spacers for 4-40 screws. Still, It's nice that only one decided to jump free.
-I soldered up the only hard line I have a definite position for. Tip: Smear a ton of oil on your file before filing tin. It keeps it from fouling the teeth. It makes the process a LOT messier, though.
-Commemorative photo of the new spacers. I've also trimmed all those long screws, so the assembly finally fits in the tank without removing stuff. (Yes, the temp mobo spacers were big enough to not clear the tank. I have it that tight.)
-I got around to rough cutting the heat shield -now-fanguard.
-I did little sanding with a bucket of water handy to clean those edges. The inside bit required a dremel instead.

That's all for now. I still haven't got the GPU block hot enough to melt the silver solder.

    Thanks again to my sponsors:

    More like 'fart'.

I broke down and purchased more copper. It hardly counts as a salvage build now. :( I can't let this soldering roadblock continue.

Consider the copper as savaged from the earth.
