Every time a matrix game comes out, it reminds me of the Lewis Black skit where he talks about candy corn. Every time one comes out I think to myself: Hmm...a matrix game. I like the matrix, and I'm sure the game will be good too. SHIIIITT. I've been let down again.

After having played Enter the Matrix and being a beta tester for Matrix:Online, I decided to give a matrix game another try(funny how two different companies both screwed up the game).

I thought Enter the matrix had excellent gameplay, but it was plagued by horrible graphical glitches. PON has slightly the same problem, not as bad though, and if you play it you will surely learn to look past it. First, the gameplay is excellent, there's about a 1000 different combos that you can link together :thumb: . There are just so many moves that you can do that are just plain awesome. I especially like the higher levels of stealing a weapon and finishing moves. Along the way you will find hidden prizes that give you bonus content such as special moves, movies etc. The special moves are pretty cool to watch once you get them down, and believe me it will take some practice for some of them. One of them is about 12 steps, it's crazy. You can also engage mutliple enemies at a time. The level where you fight hordes of Agent Smiths is just down right sweet. The way the level of difficulty is decided is pretty neat, you just don't pick it, but you are matched up against waves of enemies and how long you last decides what the difficulty is.

While the game play is top notch, and the camera angles are pretty good, the graphics is why I would give this game a 6/10. It looks like it was made back in 2001 w/ Enter the Matrix. Character models are just utter crap, Neo's is the best and it's still crap. Map detail is alright, a plus is destructble walls on some levels, like the lobby scene(level of detail on par w/ FEAR would have made this level fantastic...). The graphics might be crap, but the game is just so fun to play. I would definitely recommend that you play it.

A nice little surprise is at the end, there's some pretty kickass cg....too bad the rest of the game didn't look like this :miffed:

Anyone else play it? Whats your thoughts on the game?

    I love the Matrix Series.

Hell I saw the original Matrix 9 times at the cinema (First time I saw it I went straight back in!)

I have the series on DVD Boxset and have watched it easily 400+ times.

    And the game. . . . . WTF???!!!!

The only good bit about it in my opinion is the Smiths and Pole fight. The rest of the game is utterly abismal!

And EXPECIALLY the ending! The fact you have the Wachowski brothers come on and explain it for 5 minutes BEFORE it happens, kind of ruins it. And when I say kind of I mean totally!

And the fight combos are very repetive, hell I was pulling 20 hit combos all the time.

6 out of ten? Thats being generous!

More like 2/10. The only reason this game has any saving graces is that its the Matrix Series. If it was about something new it would have bombed!

PC Zone gave it a pretty good slating... 19/100.

I'd rather avoid Path of Neo like the plague.

Gamespot had a good review on the game... if you don't take it serious and just want to mess some virtual people up its for you.

Then again, they gave age of empires II something like 5 out of 100 when it was released and that in my opinion is one of the best RTS games ever made :thumb:

Im a fan of the matrix films but have never really played any of the games, I watched a mate complete Enter the Matrix which looked ok, but never bothered to play it myself.

Path of Neo has to be one of the worst games I have ever played, it was uninstalled in a record amount of time.
