Just got done watching this. Unexpectedly better than I thought it would be. A very Steven King ending. I haven't read the novella to compare though.

Has anyone else seen this? What did you think?

    7.5-8/10

The ending is different to the novella but it fits the film very well. Yes the tentacles looks like a bad joke in the begining but the rest of this flick is bloody good really.

Never seen it, but I do have some interest trivia: The Mist was, according to Raising The Bar, the original inspiration for Half-Life 1 and the main inspiration for the entire Black Mesa facility.

After watching "the fog" I've avoided "the mist" :p

Yes, The Fog was horrible. But The Mist isn't bad. :)

Hmmm, thanks for the tidbit Joe. Pretty interesting.

I think this movie would make a great survivor/horror fps. If done right that is.

Pretty cool movie all around. My question is:
we have the bugs attracted to the light, we have the flying thing that eats them, we have the big walker in the parking lot that eats the flyers, then we have the huge walker on the road out of town - How big is the top of this food chain????

Plot is a lot like the Chtor sci fi books. things eating things until they get to humans. I liked it.

Good idea, but the tech isn't there yet. They still haven't created a graphics engine that can handle particulate fog or smoke and have it not look like shite.

Yeah, you're right. :sigh: Volumetric fog on that scale would be pretty tough to attain.

so the question is, for those of us who haven't yet seen it, have we 'mist' a good film?

Has anyone actually read the book? I read the book years ago but i remember the ending being a lot different, and i don't remember reading about the monstors or whatever the evil stuff was.
But it was just a short story in the book. Didn't seem to finsih it.

    Heres where i read it

I must say I enjoyed this film a lot. There were some shocking moments and the characters were fantastic - very rare for this type of film.

The only disappointing part for me was the ending. It was quite predictable, if only because the general 'vibe' of the film meant you know there wasn't going to be a "happily ever after".

If you mean what happens after the car scene, then yeah that was predictable. Still the few mins leading up to that took everyone, who was watching it in our house, by suprise.
