Hello! Recently I purchased a Powermac G5 case on ebay and it's in near perfect condition. I've made some progress converting it to atx and have decided to make a worklog. Even though it's almost done, there's work to be done, and there will still be updates. Enjoy :D

    Update (4/11/09):
The worklog has now officially caught up to real-life progress. Woohoo!

    Update (4/12/09):
Happy Easter (for those of us who are religious)! Unfortunately it turns out the name "Powermac i7" was already coined by a user on another forum; therefore, I am open to suggestions for a new name.

    Update #2 (4/12/09):
There's more progress, and a new name :D :read:

    Update (4/13/09):
Just a small one. Removed the fan and did some cable management.

    Update (4/15/09):
Mainly done! The new heatsink arrived and I fitted everything into the case! However, the stock rear fans were noisy, so I'm awaiting new, silent fans. One or two more updates to come

    Update (4/18/09):
The fans have finally arrived! I've installed them, finishing up The Nehalem Apple :D

    Update (5/10/09):
G5 Cpu Cover used, looks MUCH better

    Update (6/19/09):
One fan removed, DVI connections complete :D

Right now I have nothing to do since I'm awaiting the arrival of a new heatsink and a right angle adapter, so I'll post my system specs:
    Core i7 920 CPU
    MSI x58 Platinum Motherboard
    3 GB's DDR3 RAM clocked at 1200 MHz, 6-6-6-14 @1.59 V
    9800 GTX+
    2 500 GB HDD in Raid 0
    Vista x64 Ultimate
No case currently (the parts are scattered across the house :D )

Welcome to Bit-Tech. Nice project. There are several of us G5 owners here. You probably found out by now that they are NOT the easiest cases to drill and cut.:dremel:

    I watch

Haha. I'm bidding on an eBay G5 as I type.
    Hope I get it.

Great looking case, I'm only hoping for some cosmetic mods so I can gift it with S775 innards to my cousin.

I've subbed your thread, hoping for some ideas! :)

Thanks for the warm and welcoming comments everybody :D

jhanlon303: yeah, but that's what makes them high quality :D
Mokey Mokey: I'm posting pics up soon, but they'll have to be mod approved. Glad to hear you like it :D
stonedsurd: I hope you win that case! Mine was aroud $90 and $20 shipping.
tominated: Glad to hear that :D Thanks for the warm welcome :D
    dark4181: Thanks :D Progress soon.

I'm posting more pictures up soon; most of the work has already been done but there are going to be delays (moderator's approval, photobucket, etc). I've epoxied the standoffs and placed the motherboard tray in and.... well, you'll see :D

Go to your first post and click edit - then click go advanced and you should see the title at the top to edit.
