I updated all my computers (one PC , two macs) to the new itunes and have to say I am NOT impressed!

It's slow and crashes on my macs (G4)! It couldn't update the software on my G5 ipod (error 1417 !?)

So while I like the looks, I think it needs some work!

I didn't expect unfinished stuff like this from Apple!

    Cheers

I sold my mac whilst it was still worth something, eagerly awaiting C2D to appear in the mbp line :D

I reckon it's really funky.. the album view is a genius and a god send for people like me who has looks of albums and can now flick through looking at large cover pictures instead of tiny words.

Anyone noticed with their 5g ipod that now with the latest firmware that when you sync/charge using the comp that the screen is lit up? i found this extremely annoying as before the light would turn off but now it stays extremely dim but still on.

Is that only when docked, or all the time? I'll avoid updating at all costs if it's all the time - I have no intention of wasting my backlight (and thus battery) that much.

Not that it matters, as I still can't get things working right, and I'm not willing to use one of the numerous hacks in the Apple discussion boards when my 6.0.5 install works perfectly.

does 7 still only let you make so many burns of a certin playlist? if so, no interested. I damage alot of CDs my car CD player scratches the hell out of them and i dont want to have to change the play list every 3 burns.

when connected to a computer. when docked or on battery, it follows the backlight timer rules you've set, plus you now have control over the brightness.

I think its hopeless. i use it on Windows XP Home, and i start to play one song and a 3min song will be finished in a min and a half, that isnt right, looks like Windows Media Player for me now until this things sorted and i find iTunes 6 again, which worked fine :wallbash:

Yeah, I was a little dissapointed about having to hand those over too.

Now that I've checked the "Automatically download missing album artwork", should I just leave itunes open for an hour and it'll all download? I only seem to be getting the artwork by manually requesting it for each album and perhaps a few automatic ones. I've got about 1000 albums so I assume it'll take a while.

Loving the album view, though. Actully makes your MP3s feel like a proper music collection.

Mine wont even download the album artwork, i just go on google and find them myself.

And it STILL doesn't support monitoring folders.

And the new icon looks horrible in blue.

And its pretty unstable if your library is stored on a network share.

Apart from that, I LOVE the new album art view, does it use core image do you think? It seems way too smooth to be rendering it via software, especially on my 1ghz powerbook.

The new iPod section is really nice too, although for some reason it won't sync my iPod anymore..

Awesome! Just found view>show browser, so I can browse like normal.

Too bad podcasts aren't in the library anymore, my podcasts are the only things that retained their album art. (Even my stuff with album art is gone now... so for all their cool "look we have album art", all it did was successfully remove all album art)

Not impressed... it does look shinier, but since all I use it for is to play existing MP3's, rip CD's to MP3, and subscribe to podcasts I don't see anything that has been improved that will affect me. (flipping through album art is cool, but I'm a GUI minimalist...)

    EDIT:
Just got it to download album art (apparently it didn't really download album art when I told it to during setup, but it does when you do it after you've been playing music for a while and then tell it to download album art again)

I also just got all the crappy sounding audio, but didn't open or close anything. I played the file in Windows Media Player just to be sure it wasn't my speakers, and it played fine. Then I closed WMP and resumed the song in iTunes and it works fine.

Very spotty. Cool interface, but since I don't own an iPOD I don't see the big deal.
