I'm tired so probably missed it but do you have to return the camera in good condition as I can only see this working if they re-use the cameras? Or have we reached a point where they can make a $29.99 video camera with a screen and not have to get any return from it other than $29.99 and the processing fee? Mind boggling.

I can see the possibilities but you still have to return the thing intact in order to get your DVD.

    /negatives
Average Joe will be happy with DVD but I wonder if they will output to other formats? 20 mins of lofi video on a DVD seems a bit of a waste. It's $42.00 nearly which is a bit steep I think.

    /positives
The option of being able to do this, if you want, is the only positive I can think of right now.

What happens if you don't return it for procesing? :naughty: :dremel:

Seems a bit daft right now but someone must have done the market research to determine demand. We'll see how it rolls out and if the price will \/...

Duck taping it to the bottom of car...cool video..... putting it on your pet, a dog a fat cat. =) Throwing the camera in the air and cathing it (hopefully) Imagine what kind of cool videos would those be. Skateboarding videos WOOT I mean this thing would be great.

Yeah... except that it has to survive in order to get your video. :)

If you're going to be nice enough to not destroy it, wouldn't a wireless web cam give the same cool videos with a much longer video length and you can use it repeatedly rather then once? Although you would have to rig up some kind of battery to it....

...and then you would start driving the car and woops here goes the wireless wire's end (stupid way of saying signal loss)... and then hey I can't find any wireless webcams for 30 not even 50$. I guess I'll go with the disposable.

Also imagine the fun your kid will have running around with a camera like that.... =)
I think it is a great idea.

not sure if its possible, but maby someone could hack the video in on the camera or lcd to accept one of those mini wireless cameras, and make a land warrior system. :D

I wish people would stop trying to produce more and more disposable items. Isn't anyone listening to the various authorities on recycling and refuse reduction etc? And yet I still foresee us all walking down the street watching the news on a little screen we just bought before chucking it in the bin 200 yards further on

Doesn't anyone else here have a cameraphone or digital camera already? True, it's useful for situations where a digicam might get messed up but it's massively wasteful.

I think everyone is missing the point with this. These camera are not truly disposable, in much the same way as the one-use film cameras and the 'disposable' digital camera are.

When you return the camera to be 'developed', the camera will be remanufactured and resold. The fee paid is really only a rental fee for the device. They don't throw the camera away.
