    alreet!

Doing some research for college, i've been asked myself to ask as many people as possible what hospitals and the NHS was like between the late 70s and the early 80s.

does anyone have any memory of being admited and having a stay in an NHS run hospital?
What was it like back then that's different to now?

Did the xray machines run on coal?

Is anyone old enough to have been admitted in ye golden times?

I'm looking at you Dave Macro ;)

I would talk to some retired (or about to retire) nurses. Many of them came up through the ranks and can tell you fascinating stories about the workings of the NHS throughout the years.

Just spoke to my mum for a good thirty minutes about this,

Matrons that cleaned the ward inside and out, it was spotless. NO MRSA at all.
Ear Trumpets instead of baby monitors.
    Mixed wards, (men and women)

    Think i've aced this.

Matrons that checked the nurses had cleaned the ward inside and out - they were equivalent to the army sergeant-major.

Watch 'Carry on Matron' (1972), it's not so far off.
