Hi all! In this thread post a video, pictures or description of a game released before the year of 2000 you played that you simply cherished or reminisce about getting a remake/sequel for. I'll start with G-Police. I played this bad boy on my dad's pc in 1998 and a year later on my ps1. I was amazed by the detail in the cut-scenes when i saw this baby. It blew my mind. I loved the setting, the missions (even though some were a bit repetitive), the weapons, the ships and even the graphics were amazing at the time. it did have its flaws such as somewhat poor AI at times and a high learning curve when it came to flying the ships effortlessly but i still loved it. the soundtrack was pretty kickass too. vid of first mission:
G-Police was awesome, the production values were insane. I still remember all those Diesel Jeans adverts all over the game. Was it the first game to have mainstream advertisements within the gameplay?
I used to play Gunship to death on the Amiga, which was released in 1986. I then progressed to the followup Gunship 2000, which was released in 1991. I spent many hours on this game, and it was the one game that really kindled my interest in flight sims. I had played flight sims before on the ZX81 and Spectrum, but Gunship was my first flight sim love Looking at the video of gameplay, it looks dated as hell, but it was a blast to play back then.
The first game was the first game I ever played on PC, but the 2nd is the one i'll remember for the rest of my life.
I might as well do it now rather than later. Or before someone beats me to it... Played this shortly after I got my first PC in 1992 and it may just be my favourite game ever.
Wing Commander: Prophecy My first game to use a GPU. God I loved that game - I wore out a joystick playing it over and over!
Spent some serious time on Bloodnet. Still love it but the disc swapping is awful. Got it on PC too but the music on PC is dire Dune..Best strategy game EVER! (brilliant set of books too) And so many more...
Gah, Mortal Kombat My mate used to play that game to death, knew all the combos down to a tee, and used to kick our arses every single time we played it. It got to the point I ended up hating that game
Spent sooo much time with that and the followup: Also, a game I continue to complete 2 or more times each year: Best. Game. Ever!
Giants Citizen Kabuto : "Sandra Myrtle from Chillchuck Island" Sacrifice : "Untold Knowledge" Thief 2 : Metal Age : "He Poured His Childrens Eyes from Glass" Hostile Waters : "But you should know, it has a creation engine" No One Lives Forever : "Can you cook and clean too ?" Dungeon Keeper : "Hidden Gaming Tip"
This was the coolest game ever for me! Started playing it at a friend's place back in 1995/1996. Got hooked, then got my own copy. Played it till my eyes where cooked mmmm...... anyone know the best dos emulator out there?
Command & Conquer I hate it when people call it 'Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn' - It's not its name!! Also, nostalgia:
I don't know how many hours I have wasted over the years on this game. The Settlers II was way more fun to me than say Comman & Conquer. Longer matches would take forever though. Donkey Cong Country 2 for the SNES. Used to play it in coop mode with a friend, some levels used to make us really agressive after a while.
