That's a different point altogether, but I completely agree. They need to quit legislating the thing as if it was a country (no Bernie, Max, it's NOT) and get back to white-knuckles-seat-of-you-pants racing. Now excuse me while I go to the local Go-Karting place and "screw with the pit radio".
Well, the gloves are off at the Diffuser hearing in Paris: http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5187619,00.html This is slightly worrying if you're a fan of any of the "Diffuser 3": At what point did the regs change to make the design legal in the eyes of the same entitites?
If the diffuser is found not to be in the spirit of the law then it is fair enough for the FIA to ban them (I think the so called "diffuser 3" actually have genuinely fast cars even without them, but the is beside the point). However, they did OK it for the first 2 races, so I don't see how they can justify applying the ban retroactively. If they start ****ing with the results of the first 2 races then they will really hurt the sport
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7999068.stm Oh dear. From Ross's body language and general demeanour, I don't think it's gone very well. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.
The beginning of this season has turned into the biggest farce I can remember in any sport I follow, but mixed with some of the best racing I have seen in a long time in Formula 1.
Hopefully it won't be banned. If it is, I pray to god they don't fart about with the results already. That'd be ****ing lame.
This season is a write off from my point of view from a championship point of view, the races are good, hopefully the rest will be, but it's been such a COMPLETE farce it's not worth it.
Why is it such a farce in terms of the championship? To me it's one of the most exciting season's in all aspects for as long as I can remember. The farces have been limited to Hamilton & McLaren's stupidity, and a rather unfair penalty on Vettel. Doesn't seem like a farce to me. Neither has realistically affected the points available to anyone, 1 point for Hamilton doesn't make much difference in the grand scheme imo. Oh, and Toyota breaking the rules with rear wings which are too flexible. Nothing farce-ish about that imo. What will royally bone it is if they start fiddling around with the points after the races now.
The FIA have made a decision on the diffuser before, then they may now change it, the stewards are making decisions already which are unbelievable. The FIA need to be disbanded and completely changed, motortweets (a twitter free service that provides FREE updates for F1 stuff) just got a cease and desist for using the FIA/F1 logo because they believe it's used for profit and won't speak to the guy that runs it. Sorry, I hate the FIA at the moment.
FIA aint changed anything and tbh Mosley wanted this to happen which is why it'll go the diffuser 3's way.
PF1 are reporting that it'll go in favour of the Final 5, oops, Diffuser 3. http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5190373,00.html Seems that Ross gave as good as he gets, and probably explains why he was so reticent to give an interview afterwards - he was absolutely knackered after being grilled for so long by Ferrari's grand inquisitor.
About time Thiessen was complaining the other day that everyone should have a level playing field, they do just some teams exploited that field better. Wont be long till Mclaren have their upgrades sorted though given they knew about how slow they were months ago.
