Ho hum. I was hoping to see them get it for a few years, Donington is one of my favourite tracks although it probably doesn't suit F1 cars.
I just hope that Bernie sees sense, gives Silverstone a 5-6 year contract and we can get to see GP racing in this country full stop. TBH though, I never thought it would work at Donny any way. Yes, they may have been able to build a track and paddock to current F1 specs, but where's the infrastructure? They where touting it as the first public transport GP - yeah, right. Like thats going to work with a bunch of petrol heads. And they reckoned that they'd have to cease flights in and out of the local airport, as not to interfere with VIP flights to the GP. Again, I can't see other users of the airport liking that. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....lear-skies/article-579938-detail/article.html And to anyone who thinks Silverstone doesn't have great access, I'd like to point out the fab roads in and out of there thanks to the dualing of the A43 from the M1 all the way to the M40, right past Silverstone. It couldn't be easier to get to. I'm surprised that the other GP sites haven't picked up on this....
Of course Donnington haven't even got the motorcycle Grand Prix any more, they lost those to Silverstone too.
Agreed - very easy, although it does still get jammed up. Spa has an interesting format - it's fed by a literal spiderweb of roads around it, so although the nearest roads get jammed it quickly frees up once it branches out a touch, then in about 10 minutes you've suddenly got no-one else in sight and some beautiful roads. Awesome.
Now Official - Donny's life support has been turned off: http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5645876,00.html
Annnd WTF moment of the morning - Jense to Macca? http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5645763,00.html Noooo. Don't do it Jense. Two WDCs at one team? It's bound to end in tears.
That would be a very bad move for McLaren to have two fast drivers but with such a fundamentally different driving style you will never be able to please them both and the car will fail as a result. Hamilton needs another aggressive driver in the spare seat (Kimi) and I have no idea who would be a good fit for Jense although Rosberg wouldn't be bad.
I've never really understood why the driving style of the two drivers in the team should matter. Surely the car is designed to go as fast as possible while keeping within the regulations, rather than engineered around the driver? I thought it was the individual teams that work with each driver that set the car up depending on their preferences and style to get the most out of it. The only problems that tend to arise is when there is a conflict between the two drivers, usually a result of clashing egos, not whether they 'fit' together. I know if it was me, I wouldn't care less how the other guy drove, so long as he was behind me
The cars are engineered to be as fast as possible, but they have certain characteristics as well. Fundamental design choices affect the way it handles, the way it behaves near the limit, that kind of thing. Even down to the way you can place ballast in the car is a factor for the drivers - Uncertain is right tbh, I think that while Jense and Hamilton would be a good pairing for the PR people, it wouldn't be good for their car, and it would be bad for Brawn imo.
herein lies the problem, if a superstar driver gets beaten by his teammate in the same machinery then toys tend to be thrown from the pram
Exactly... But we could be wrong. Jense & Lewis could be perfect gents to one another, but history tells us that that's not going to happen. Senna / Prost? Alonso / Hamilton? Hmmmm. Stick with Brawn JB
Just watched a lap of Yas Marina. Very very boring and artificial. If the straight was any longer and wider 747s would be landing on it.
They where saying that the pit lane exit at Yas runs through a tunnel. I can't wait to see what they plan to do if someone drops it in there, or does a Fissi and parks it at the exit.
Ferrari International Assistance is GO! Napoleon has got the top job: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8322393.stm
I was rather hoping for Vatanen, but nevermind. The most important thing is to rid us of Mosley. With such obvious Ferrari allegiance, ironically, I reckon we'll see less favouritism because they'll be under scrutiny.

Oh bollocks, it's Napoleon. Or as my brother and I call him, "The Stallion Himself", on account of the Ferrari logo and his wife. Edit: Oh, I was expecting to be censored.
Pretty much this. Although I'm guessing McLaren and Ferrari are going to be on the upswing and Button could pull it off at McLaren.
Silverstone Warned by Ecclestone Full article here. He's right. Who needs a British Grand Prix. It's clearly not one of the best attended and most atmospheric Grand Prix on the calendar. No history associated with the race. It's hardly like any of the teams are British, let alone any good ones. Same with drivers, it's hardly as if the last two WDCs were British. I see no good reason for a British GP to be needed or desirable. Oh wait... This is seriously ridiculous. I think that Ecclestone doesn't realise how much F1 gains from a British GP. Why don't we just race on a series of tracks in the OPEC countries and East Asia, and just keep Monaco and Monza on special deals. That seems to be Bernie's plan for F1. Either that, or it's a good bit of business and brinksmanship, which is what he excels in. Either way, it does not leave me, as an F1 fan, happy. /rant.
