A new team for F1 and another Senna? http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/06/bruno-senna-to-race-in-f1-next-season-with-campos-meta-1/
One of several, Jon. Campos Meta, Manor USF1 All of them are new 'slots' on the grid. Lotus will be there next year as well, having taken the slot left by BMW-Sauber. Now Toyota is out, there's an outside chance the Sauber may be back - especially as Toyota have ruled out selling the team as a going concern. All the new boys will be running Cosworth engines, made just down the road from me on St James Mill Road in Northampton. I have to go past them if I need to pick up a parcel from the postal depot.
I don't understand why they want to break up a team like Toyota - surely they'd be worth more as a complete package? All those staff already integrated into one unit, it's got to be better than scraping together a team yourself.
The Jense to Macca rumours have gotten a boost - He was given a tour of the Woking factory yesterday: http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5693789,00.html Woah. This could be huge. Brawn loose another driver and the reigning champion, and Kimi gets left out in the cold, as he's already stated that it's McLaren or nothing for him.
Oh dear. Fingers crossed tbh, Hamilton and Jensen wouldn't be a good pairing imo. I have to say I'm a bit biased because I have taken a shine to Brawn GP (what Brit couldn't love the plucky underdog), but even so, both drivers gone wouldn't be good imo.
Yeah, I think both Jenson and Lewis in one team would be disastrous. Here's hoping that Jenson signs with Brawn and Raikkonnen goes to McLaren.
It could, of course, be some coy work by Jenson's management people to give Brawn a poke and get on with signing him.
I can't see McLaren making a car to suit both of them. Button likes things smooth and Hamilton prefers his cars tail happy. Of course McLaren probably have enough money to create two quite different chassis.
It seems to me that both Jenson & McLaren are playing a game of contract chicken. Jenson wants more money from Brawn, and McLaren want to pay Kimi less.
I'm not sure if it's chicken or Russian Roulette - with an automatic. The rumours just keep coming: http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5697300,00.html Couple that with the news last week that Jense was seen at Woking... I'm starting to think that this could be for real, and Macca will have two world champs at the team and a barrel full of cash from Merc, and Brawn will be rebranded as Mercedes. Stranger things have happened.
I saw Massa driving an F1 car again on the news this morning. Its good to see him back. IMO the only way Brawn will survive is if someone like Mercedes buys them over.
I wasnt expecting merc to buy quite so much of brawn, so if thats true, owning 75% id expect brawn to be rebranded also. I just ope that kimi is on the grid next year, he produced some great moments this year (anyone remember hearing the ferrari spokesperson saying he thought the race could restart in malaysia while the camera watched kimi walking around in flip flops eating an icecream.)
More fuel for the fire: http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5697376,00.html If this pans out, I can't see Kimi on the grid. He's already syated that he wants a competitive drive, and his mind that's McLaren or no-one. So don't expect to see him sat in a Campos / Lotus / USF1 / Manor next year. He'll be off rallying.
Well, we'll know for certain later on today. Mercedes is holding a press conference regarding their future in F1 later on, according to Autosport: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80170
It's official - Mercedes by controlling share in Brawn, Leaving McLaren: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8362295.stm
I suppose its nice to have another manufacturer on the grid, but how long will they stay if they dont meet their expectations? I think jensen leaving brawn will be a mistake, but we'll just have to wait until next year to see just how bad these decisions really are. Who knows it may be i match made in heaven but im not hopeful.
