There's a nice analysis here of the Williams share sale. Certainly more than others have reported. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns21988.html GrandPrix doesn't cover all the stories, but they're usually more in-depth when they do.
Interesting article, can't quite see the rebadging of Cosworth Engines to HWA, they're not a brand I'm familiar with. I just hope Williams can keep its identity in these murky waters. The plot certainly thickens!
HWA is Merc's official racing company. It was created when Chrysler took over in 1999. http://www.hwaag.de/motor-racing.html
From browsing their site they also make a 350HP 3.2V6 A class merc, They must be just a little mental. On the upside it also looks like they build new 1954 300sl's, If you've got the money i suppose. On Topic Could this be a ploy to get paul di resta, maybe as a reserve/test driver and replacement for the aging rubens in a year or 2? If HWA are the team behind mercedes DTM cars then surely this is a possibility
I wouldn't put any money on it at all. Ross says "no, The Stig will not be driving for us": http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5713556,00.html
"...However, Nico will be driving for us": http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5713639,00.html Not that we already knew that, Ross.
Totally off-topic but... Does anyone else get annoyed that PF1 doesn't have a clickable banner to go to their homepage? It seems so elementary.
Come on everyone - think happy thoughts. HAPPY THOUGHTS! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/low/motorsport/formula_one/8374911.stm Fingers crossed.
Be sure only to cross an odd number of fingers, otherwise it nullifies the crossage! I hope the deal is made, but will it include that awful escalator? If it does we can expect rather large rises in ticket prices over the next few years.
Dunno - It did seem like a bit of a deal breaker when it came out, but I assume that's what they've been arguing the toss over with Bernard... I do hope they don't have to put the prices up. They're bloody expensive as they are! Last time I went I took MrsGOO for her birthday, and had tickets for Friday through Sunday, with pit access in the mornings. Cost me the better part of £700! We worked out that for the same price (that year) we could have gone to the Indy GP for a week, including flights and accomodation. But then I wouldn't have had the fun of having my pic taken in Jaguar Team gear on the pit wall with Eddie Irvine's pit board. (Yes, that long ago!)
Where did you sit that weekend? I assume you grandstanded it up. I thought £130 was bad for a peasant's Bronze ticket!
Yep - Grandstand just after Bridge on the little squirt toward Priory. We could see them go through all that and the Brooklands-Luffield-Woodcote complex. We also got to see DC stuff it completely as he exited Bridge, with him skating his McLaren off into the kitty litter on the apex of Priory. He didn't look too chuffed IIRC.
Canada, Eh? http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5721915,00.html BRDC? Strike while the iron's hot. Bernard must be in a good mood!
