Putin added: "We will take the first steps in sponsoring the project, and it's possible that we will increase our sponsorship role in the future."

Does that mean the possibility of having a lada F1 team? that would make me chuckle:D

EDIT: has anybody seen the stefan GP website? theres a jobs section and right at the bottom
    :D

@TA: yeah - i saw that a while ago... LOL

@GOO: EXACTLY. McLaren - sponsored by Reliant (Robin). This year featuring 3 wheels.

USF1 have confirmed their deferral request.
Does that mean that if the FIA says "no" they'll just not pitch?
It sounds mean and is probably not good for the sport, but I think the FIA should be saying "NO", just to make a statement: if you sign up for a season, you're racing that season, or forfeiting your right to a spot on the grid. No mercy. This would (IMHO) make space for rookie teams that are actually going to race (looking at ProDrive here...).

USF1 have a lot to answer for but maybe they should be allowed to defer for the benefit of the future of F1. Having a bigger US presence will definitely raise the sport's profile over there which can only be a good thing.

In other news, Mark Webber isn't impressed by the shambles, and Campos is all but confirmed as being renamed Hispania Racing F1 Team.

theres not even a USA grand prix this year (unless I missed it on the list). Don't think itll matter too much if there isn't an american team there too much. An american driver would make a bigger difference.

I don't think Scott Speed made that much difference. :p

Such a great name for a racing driver, shame he was rubbish!

I can't even remember who he is xD

quick wiki and I remember him now ^^ Found this interesting tho

TBH I think the highlight for him was making way for a truly awsome driver and managing to be largely forgotten. Had to laugh at this tho

Absolute bs. It's a complete joke that Stefan haven't been given the place in lieu of USF1. Hell I think it'd be a bit silly for them not to be able to compete even if USF1 were going to make the grid. I hope that some sort of deal can be made for them to have F1-spec tyres to test with this year!

as much as i had hoped stefan would get the place, i suppose i always new that it wouldnt happen due to the farcical way F1 is run. What i find slightly amusing although it pisses me off immensely is that campos and USF1 would be unlikely to test their cars before the first race.

so whats all the **** about not being able to grant a new team a place so close to the start of the season, Stefan like it or not where/are better prepared for this season than campos or USF1 were/are!

I still hope a deal can be worked out although highly unlikely.

once again F1 does its best to make an ass of itself.

I had a feeling this would happen when they "forced" all neww teams to run Cosworth engines and ProDrive said "Well in that case... we'll be over here NOT taking part."
    It's sad to see.

    In other news:
    - Branson cautiously optimistic, but on a reasonable scale, about VR's F1 entry.
    - Lopez wants his USF1 contract annulled and his money back
    - Looks like Schumi now has a PR lady for a manager
    - After parting ways with his dad, Lewis might get Häkkinen for a manager... or Martin Brundle
    - And -to end in good news- Silverstone General admission tickets nearing sold out status

After all the off-track news, there's finally a good old technical regulations challenge coming McLaren's way for their genius rear wing.

    Yeah... saw that as well...
I reckon that's one of those things. It's clever design.
Rather worryingly, Ross Brawn has admitted to having "pushed the envelope of the regulations" a bit with the upgrades Merc GP should be running in Bahrain...

I think one of the PF1 comments sums it up for me:

If it does indeed contravene the purpose of other regs then it shouldn't be allowed imo. Hopefully we'll see the decision before the race weekend rather than during it.

On the subject of Silverstone tickets, have they removed the general admission section just after Club? That'd suck if they had, that was about the best spot on the whole track for GA folks.

Unfortunately we all know that's not how FIA decisions are made. It's safe to assume that it will be banned because their car isn't red...:hehe:

Macca aren't worried by rear wing alegations:

    And apparently, neither are Ferrari:

being aware means jack. Im not aware of someone getting mugged doesn't mean its not happening. Is this another double diffuser saga? there has been one occasion Ferrari had a decision go against them and that was flexable front wings.

I reckon (based on nothing but my gut), that it's gonna be declared legal.

Autosport have contacted Ferrari as well:

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81836
So unless somone else protests (Yes, I'm looking at you, Mr Horner), the FIA won't have to pass judgement on it (baring it being deemed illegal by the race stewards during scrutineering)

Hispania Racing have a car! And drivers! Karun Chandhok has been confirmed as Bruno Senna's partner for this season. The Dallara chassis is pretty similar to the VR01 overall: fairly pointed, low v-nose; undercut airbox and tall side wings. The livery is...bare.
