Let's see what the WMSC think of it. I don't think they'll get off lightly on this, especially if they've invoked 151c which is pretty damn serious.

    £100k? Its a start I suppose.

I bet you if it had been McLaren, they'd have slapped a few extra zeros on the end and they would already be banned.

I wonder if $100k is the maximum the stewards can fine?

    More from the Beeb:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8852918.stm

I love the changing story - It was Felipe's error of changing up three gears (Eh? :eyebrow:) now it was his choice to let the Petulant One by.

It really explains FM's demeanour on the podium and in the press confernce, and Rob's appology over the radio.

I've got a feeling that they will get the book thrown at them at the WMSC. Which will be nice. :)

+1 on the hate, and I include the Ferrari F1 team in there too.

The fine is too small IMO and I hope that Alonso has his points removed :grr:

Fines are irrelevant to the big teams really. What they should do is just dock points, both manufacturer and driver.

Ferrari seem to be a pretty good job on SNAFU'ing the brand recently. First the stupid theme park, next the racing team are playing like spoilt children, with Alonso at its head. Not good.

An otherwise great race RUINED by Ferrari's casual flouting of the rules.

How much lower are Alonso and his retainers gong to go?

The teams will turn a blind eye, after all what goes around comes around. Don't complain about it and Ferrari won't protest on other matters.

Much as i would love to see the book thrown at them. I doubt it'll make anyone change there ways all that will happen in future is that the number 2 driver will make an error like braking late and running wide to let their team mate bye.

I reckon the WMSC is gonna let them get off as is, maybe a grid spot penalty or another fine... nothing too serious.

Ferrari have been at the center of every single rules debate in the last 3-4 races. First it was safety cars. Then chicane cutting (and please note that "i was pushed wide" was the same excuse that McLaren used once - and still gave the spot back), and now team orders and the front wing.

That being said, I must also say that body parts debates are really non-issues to me. the rules are there, and as such, by definition (almost), people try to bend them. It's called development, and noone's better at it than Ross Brawn and Adrian Newey.

I do hope that Ferrari gets slapped some more, and that a probe into FA is launched. It seems weird to me that he's going "I dunno what happened" this time as well... last time I saw him say that, there were 2 people that got slapped with lifetime F1 bans (which later got revoked), major sponsor pullouts, etc.

I cannot stand Alonso, if he wins the championship it will certainly be tainted. Fines are pointless against Ferrari.

Always been a Ferrari fan but my contempt for FA is so massive that I hope they win nothing with him there.

Isn't massa technically the #1 driver? I thaught the red pod ment that he was 1st driver and alonso with yellow #2.. either way they should have the points from that race docked like what would've happened to every other team if they did that tbh.

I believe this is the case. Hence the referral to the WMDC. Story's not over yet, folks. This will run and run.

Utter disgrace, in my opinion. Is this sort of thing what fans expect? Even from Ferrari? Winning at all costs is not worth it. What good is a win if your reputation is in tatters? Outrageous, given Massa's speed and after all that's happened that he was not allowed race for the win. And all so Alonso could have five more points in a championship he's not likely to win! It doesn't even make sense!

Alonso's lack of contrition speaks volumes and demonstrates his utter lack of regard for the fans, or indeed for fair play. He is no sportsman, and this tarnishes any achievements he may have had in the sport. First Crashgate, now this. It's becoming a nasty undercurrent of his career and I am no longer convinved Alonso was as innocent in Crashgate as he made himself out to be.

I feel sorry for Massa. He would do well to leave Ferrari and seek a berth elsewhere as soon as he possibly can. Ferrari have betrayed him in this.

Team orders are banned for a reason. People pay good money for tickets and merchandise so that they can see a race. What we saw was akin to a Jockey pulling up a horse so his stablemate can win. If someone was caught at this in horse racing they'd face expulsion, no questions asked.

I hope Ferrari get the book thrown at them for blatantly fixing this race so that Alonso would win. They should be kicked out of the championship for their behaviour.

The FIA also need to act and ensure this sort of mickey mouse rules lawyering on Ferrari's part claiming "it was the driver's decision" is firmly given short shrift.

Nothing less than exclusion from the Constructors championship is appropriate.

I found it to be a rather mediocre race compared to most of the others this season, first corner was about as exciting as it got for me. The whole Massa/Alonso thing pissed me off no end, to the extent where I just stopped watching and did something else. I hate all the internal team c**p, just treat both drivers equally, put them in cars and let them race. If they don't finish in the "right" order well, that's just tough s**t.

Agreed on pretty much everything there trekkypj.

Massa's problem is that he's been part of the team for nearly a decade one way or the other, he's so deeply integrated into the team I think he'll find it hard to go somewhere else. Besides that which top team'd have him? Most of them have a firmly entrenched driver lineup now.

The way I see it is massa could of made a mistake and unlike red bull or Mclaren didn't aggressively cover it. Fair enough that sort of team orders I would agree with ie. not battling if your team mate passes or agressively defending, but the fact that the radio messages showed he was gonna make a mistake at some point and that it was gonna happen Its something completely different. If I was massa I would of radioed back "what you want me to crash or something?" Seems Alonso can only win if team orders are involved.

Aren't there rumours of him and Kubica swapping teams in a couple of seasons?

In a couple of seasons perhaps, but not until 2012. I belive Robert is signed at Renault until then.

While I do hate Alonso since... well... forever, really, I must say that I am kinda shocked by Ferrari standing for it there. Even Chris Horner would've admitted a fault there.
But it's not really about just Fernando. It's about the blatant manner in which this happened.
If Massa genuinely screwed the pooch there, then why did his Engineer apologise for it in a way that sounded like he was just bearing horrible news?

The way i see it, take the win from them/ban them for a race or two. This is a form of race fixing.
Not to mention that Ferrari have bene hissing at the stewards for a while now.
