    "Should be"?

Can't constantly changing helmets be a signature?

Many other drivers would beg to differ:

F1 drivers do change their helmet designs relatively regularly. It's not a sign of immaturity - more because they like to change!

Once or twice a season like those above is fine by me, but a new one for every race is unnecessary.

Just watched the race, thank God Hamilton managed to finish the race.... despite awful luck - again!

As others have said, it looks like the McLaren boys are now out of the title hunt, so go Mark Webber! :)

I'm guessing it was an exaggeration but from the people you gave, Raikonnen raced 9 seasons with the 9 helmets there. Alonso has raced 9 with the 7 helmets there. Button has raced 10 with the 5 you show. As far as I know Vettel has gone through 3 already this season.

You also picked outliers, most drivers pick one and stick with it, or at least don't go changing more than once a season.

EDIT: And if they do change it is often subtle, look at the first few changes of alonso and raikonnen. Not dramatic changes (all of Vettels have been huge changes not even keeping a vague resemblance to the previous design

He's not though - it's colour schemes, and Singapore was supposedly a one-off - like Monaco. Anyway, what's wrong with him changing it? You said a helmet was a signature, you shouldn't change it much if at all - yet the drivers I picked have changed them on average once each season - if you want to argue about protocol and what good helmet design is then fine - but don't claim that it's immature when almost every driver subtly changes their helmet (since Singapore was a one-off, look at the differences between 1 and 3 - it's just a colour scheme change (two less bands of red, silver replaced with white)).

What do you care anyway ? People bitch about the same thing here over goaltenders (hockey) who change their mask all the time. Why ? They don't owe you anything

The argument with F1 drivers is that it makes identifying them a pain in the ass if everyone changes all the time. Not so much of an issue with Vettel Because Webber has pretty much the same helmet all the time, so it's either Webber's helmet or not. :p

I know it's the issue, but why does anyone care that much? I think they make it pretty clear on TV who it is that you see, don't they ?

Exactly. I still haven't understood why anyone cares about helmets

    I normally don't notice anyway.
I can spot Webber, Alonso, Massa, Lewis, Button and Kubica. Vettel I can recognise as "the other" RBR driver.

I just picked it up when the pre-race cameras in Singapore showed the twilight themed helmet a couple of times. I was like "Hang on... that's not his normal helmet"... and then in Japan of course...

Looking at the simulations it could be a very nice track for racing on - several very slow corners after long straights, and a good mix of fast and slow corners during the rest of the lap.

Is it a Tilke design again? Nevermind, found his Wiki page and every new circuit is one of his. Maybe someone should whip him into shape to redesign tracks that have fallen out of favour too, Manky Course for example.

Red Bull also have a pretty handy CGI team by the looks of things:

Saw that on the F1 page which started the ball rolling on how it might be a good track. Let's pray to the gods of F1 for a McLaren 1-2 and a DNF for Webber! :D

That video is hardly realistic. The last time Webber and Vettel where that close together on track at racing speed, look what happened. :p ;)
