probably just running a strange camber or something. Dont think it had much to do with the tyre itself tbh

Or the body work was rubbing against the tyres. Whatever the problem was, the fact that Williams had five failures during the weekend and none of the other Michelin teams had any failures during the race points to the car as the cause of the problems. A shame, really, as Williams could have got a few points today.

    SPA this weekend!

What do you get when you have the best racetrack in the world, 20 F1 Cars a barrel load of Rain? The Belgian GP, that's what! :D

If 2nd free practice is anything to go by, it's going to be one hell of a slippery race ;)

    W00t, what a race.
Great start, and thankfully Trulli held a few people back at the start.
Fisi was suprising quick for the opening bit of the race, overtaking a few cars, until he wiped out at el rouge.
Good idea for Kimi holding up the pack on the Safety car pit streak, and the commentaters didn't notice this, but Villeneuve held up Alonso and others after that first round of pits.
Now with obvious sarcasm, it was a real shame for Sato to hit MS off track, taking them both out of the race, and IMO MS was a little harsh to Sato considering the unpredictable track.
Ralf was suprising, but was stupid to gamble and take on Slicks so early, as was Massa.
Button was superb as always, two brilliant overtaking moves on Villeneuve and Rubens, and by far the best driver on the track today.
Montoya and Pizzonia hit each other, but I'm not sure what happened here, but its a tad annoying, I wanted that Mclaren one two.
Nothing much more to say, other than Kimi drove well, and took the win like he needed to, nevertheless he won't win the championship, but just wait for 2006 :)

Here are the results of Spa.

    1. RAIKKONEN McLaren 44 laps

    2. ALONSO Renault +28.3s

    3. BUTTON BAR +32.0s

    4. WEBBER Williams +1m09.1s

    5. BARRICHELLO Ferrari +1m18.1s

    6. VILLENEUVE Sauber +1m27.4s

    7. R.SCHUMACHER Toyota +1m27.5s

    8. MONTEIRO Jordan +1 lap

    9. KLIEN Red Bull +1 lap

    10. MASSA Sauber +1 lap

    11. KARTHIKEYAN Jordan +1 lap

    12. ALBERS Minardi +2 laps

    13. DOORNBOS Minardi +3 laps

    14. MONTOYA McLaren +4 laps

    15. PIZZONIA Williams +5 laps

    16. TRULLI Toyota +10 laps

    17. COULTHARD Red Bull +26 laps

    18. M.SCHUMACHER Ferrari +31 laps

    From ITV-F1, bout montoya.

McLaren-Mercedes top brass have said that Juan Pablo Montoya was an “innocent victim” in his collision with Antonio Pizzonia at the very end of the Belgian Grand Prix.

The team lost a certain one-two, potentially its first such result in five years, when Pizzonia tangled with Montoya while trying to unlap himself four laps from the end.

The Williams was much faster than the McLaren at that stage as it had just pitted for dry weather tyres, whereas Montoya was nursing his intermediate-shod car to the flag.

The stewards blamed Pizzonia for the incident and imposed an $8,000 fine.

"Both (McLaren) drivers put in a faultless performance today which should have given the team maximum points,” said team boss Ron Dennis.

“Juan Pablo was the innocent victim of other people's mistakes but this should not distract from his race which was executed with true team spirit.”

Dennis’ Mercedes counterpart Norbert Haug was also highly supportive of his driver.

“Juan Pablo did a brilliant job and didn't put a foot wrong throughout the weekend,” said Haug.

“I feel sorry for him as the accident was not his fault."

Although McLaren’s management rarely criticise drivers in public, Montoya has incurred their wrath on a few occasions this season, notably when he crashed in qualifying at Hockenheim, and after tangling with Tiago Monteiro in the closing stages in Turkey.

Pizzonia apologised for the incident, but suggested that Montoya was at least partially at fault.

“He was quite slow, maybe because his tyres were not good anymore or maybe he was just cruising to the end of the race,” said Pizzonia.

“I thought he saw me and when he braked really early I thought he was trying to let me by.

“I put my car next to him but obviously he hadn’t seen me because he turned into his normal line and I couldn’t avoid the crash.

“I am sorry for him because I am not here to destroy anyone’s race.

    “I destroyed my race too."

Montoya led the first 32 laps of the race before dropping behind team-mate Kimi Raikkonen during the final pit stop sequence.

Dennis’ reference to Montoya driving “with true team spirit” would appear to suggest that the manner in which the Colombian lost the lead was part of an orchestrated team strategy.

While Raikkonen put on a spurt on his in laps, Montoya’s pace dropped significantly after his own stop.

Whats the bet that BAR are crap next season and Williams go storming ahead then Jenson decides he wants to be at Williams rather than BAR.

It was on the cards from the start, TBH - And the loss of BMW was the clincher. Frank needed an engine supplier, and the money from Buttongate will go toward paying for his Cossie V8's next season.

Also, as soon as Williams started talking about Nico Rosberg, and possibly running him as soon as Suzuka, you knew they'd given up on Jense.

Where this leaves Sato is anybodies guess... Will he be happy to be a test driver? As that'll be his only option at BAR, as Antony Davidson is either going to Midland next year, or possibly SauBMWer. :)
