Was it the original or the re-make? I have the original in my banned movie collection I started making a few years back but never got around to seeing the new one. In either case it is a hard watch at times.

Actress who's name I forgot: "Are you aware of the dangers of having sex at your age?!?"
Actor who's name I forgot: "If she dies she dies"

I laughed at that quite a bit

No no. Gay doesn't have to be eccentric!

Look at what they did to Yoda in Episode 2 - even though that was a prequel of 4 and 5 it still looked silly with him bouncing around the cave. It doesn't work. Richard Harris would have pulled it off with the grandeur of a head master, not cheeky motions of a skallywag.

Having heard only the title, and nothing of what the movie was about, everything came as a huge shock. I sorta loved the emotional brutality of it, in a strange masochistic way.

    Excellent movie.

I personally think you are a twit for thinking such a thing.
Yoda is awesome in Episode 2 :D

The only thing that was awesome about Ep1-3 is how truly crap they were when held up to the originals. :p

I must agree with you here Krikit, if they made the new ones (1,2,&3) with the same technology as the originals and some alterations to the story, then it may have worked. But since we go from really good modern special effects to the style from back in the 70's/80's (cant remember which off top of my head) it kind of loses/kills the magic from 4,5 & 6 IMO

Not going to get into this here, but I prefer the new ones, and I still consider myself a big Star Wars fan :)

    The Other Guys - 7/10
Watched it last night, enjoyed it, thought the two leads played well off each other, and it had some proper laugh out loud moments.

Same experiance as you. never the less....:thumb::thumb:

Just re-watched these two tonight back to back. Definitely like the Chronicles of Riddick (top 15) more than Pitch Black (top 20).

I like both but I must say I prefer Pitch Black because it was done on a much lower budget and has an entirely different feel to it.

    Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy 7/10

"Slow" does not adequately describe what this movie is like at the start, but it does pick up eventually. Not my cup of tea (perhaps I was too tired) but it's by no means a bad movie. Don't watch it unless you have your brain in gear.

saw john carter the other day.. it's not bad I'd say 8/10- the beginning could have been better but once he got on mars it got good.. lot of good cgi, lots of alien action.. and orangutans

    Underworld: Awakening 1/10

Not even Kate Beckinsale can rescue this one. I don't think there is even one second of original material in this movie; it is 70 minutes of contrived, boring, gratuitously violent drivel.

The beginning, at least the part where Ned (Edgar Rice Burroughs - the creator of John Carter) is reading Uncle John's diary, is straight out of the original novel. :thumb:

    Harry Potter 4 - 9/10
    Harry Potter 5 - 6/10

Order of the Phoenix film cutting quality, CG (in everything but the end) and storytelling just dropped off a cliff after the intensity of Goblet of Fire. Generally I found 5 riddled with story issues and an overdose of Orwellian influence.

    The Three Musketeers (2011) 8/10

This film was slated by critics because (presumably) they were expecting something of Jane Austen caliber.

Far from that, it's a very silly film which is packed full of cliches but is immensely enjoyable from start to finish; there's actually very little that I can fault about this film.

Saccharin sweet but just like the Muppets used to be. I was grinning from start to finish.

Really, frustratingly, slow. A good cast, but I couldn't get into it at all, I imagine some people could love the political drama but I don't rate it.

    Battle Royale
    6.5/10

Premise seemed pretty ridiculous and found it difficult to care about any of the characters -- most of them didn't have much screen time and died in rapid succession. Had a sadistic stylistic flair to it, though.

    American history X
    8/10

I'd seen the end of this before so I knew I was onto a winner but never got round to watching it the whole way through. I found it interesting for portraying a believable, human side to blatantly extreme racists.

While not a movie I am re-watching the Battlestar Galactica (remake) series, which IMHO is the best TV series ever made and compulsory viewing for everyone :p

I love Battle Royale, but I suppose that doesn't mean it has a lot of substance. :)

For some reason HP5 was always my favorite (until I watched HP8, that is) .Maybe I only remember the epic fight at the end, though.
