lol, I'm sure we all know why.. Boondock Saints 2: All Saint's Day: 7/10 Action was good, they had all the actors from the first movie, decent script. BUT: tried to copy the original too much, and personally got very irritated with the FBI chick's thick texas accent
Watched Despicable Me on Sunday..what a film! It's just like Pixar's films in that it strikes the balance between kiddy pleasing and making the adults chuckle. Plus the minions have that all important cute factor. I loved it.
Just watched Back to the Future Part II for the first time (no clue why it took this long, I've seen III dozens of times) - perfect sequel. My standards for sequels have been significantly bumped...
Saw Scott Pilgrim Vs The World last night 4/10 First thing to say - I have not read the graphic novels. Anyway, I did not like it. I don't like endless pop culture/music/video games references. All they do is alienate those who don't get them and make those who do get them feel smug. I know it was supposed to be a like a video game, but turns out they are **** to watch. I'd rather just play them. It was funny in parts but they were just small chuckles at stupid lines. It doesn't want to be just a movie, it wants to be a comic and a video game and a movie. Why can't it just be one or the other? Annoying because I had heard a lot about it being good and was kinda looking forward to it. Also, I went to a late showing because it was the only showing the girl could make and I only got 4hours sleep as a result. I now feel **** at work and it wasn't worth it. And Michael Cera was exceptionally annoying. I mean, I loved him in Superbad/Arrested Development but my god I hated him in that film. How is it possible to be so characterless? He just strikes me as very weak, might blow over in a strong breeze. And this affable loser/wimp/geekchic thing in movies is getting on my tits now. I'm demoting this film to 3/10 because now its also cause me to get angry thinking about and waste some of my time writing about it.
Wow, places are still showing it? I loved it, personally. About a 7 or 8 I think. They had me with the 8-bit Universal logo
It only came out in the U.A.E last week! Some things take a while to reach here. It was gimmicky and wont stand the test of time.
Personally I don't like 2 all that much, I've watched the first and third movies countless times, but I could never really get into 2 all that much.
I only got around to watching paranormal activity last week. It was alright, nothing above and beyond, but not brutal either so somewhere in the middle for me. I heard 2 is scary. Also went to watch jackass 3d and it was entertaining though I'll admit a lot of the stunts have gotten more disgusting and the movie felt kinda short. Still think the original is the best.
The Social Network: 7/10 Regardless of how true/not true this is, it's a sufficiently geeky story (with plenty of KDE screenshots) to pique my interests, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only annoying thing was the guy they had playing the twins - they could have been a bit cleverer with the interactions, because you could always tell which one was the overlay!
I'd not bother Mansueto .. and if you watched the first there are two versions of that if you have watched the one where the chick gets shot by the police at the end .. you need to watch the other ending before seeing the second movie..WHAT AM I SAYING ...NO.....dont even bother with it .. its dreadful
Tropic Thunder 8/10 Pretty entertaining. After recently watching the Rambo trilogy, Predator and some other epic movies from the 80's, the humor in this totally got me
Got talked into watching Garden State a couple nights ago. 8/10. Overall, just a love story so meh but the style was cool and I was watching it with a couple girls so their reactions to it and then their reaction to what I said bump it up a few points. They thought the story was sweet and so great that the guy went to such trouble to get the girl. My reaction was the guy was kinda the typical jerk. He see's this girl and falls in love and has to have her. He looks for her and tries to contact her for weeks(I think, time-line is vague) while he's supposed to be in China, the whole time lying to his girlfriend/fiance and in the mean time, he bangs the friend of the girl he's looking for.
+1 Despicable Me; 9/10 - Hilarious film, again the balance between humor ages is great, definately worth watching. I now definately want a hoard of minions.
