Sounds like my kind of place. As long as there's an airport nearby.

Gripping, excellent, well-shot, even kept the missus completely engaged. -1 because the pace is just a little too fast at the start and I couldn't catch everything between munching dried mango.

@Xir: My brother stays near Munich - It's never to cold to Braai. If you can get a fire going, the temperature is perfect. :p - that's why you braai with open flame, and not with charcoal... fire=warm

Yes, there is. It's got a big runway as well (it was built to potentially serve as an emergency runway for the Space Shuttle, and is one of the few runways that a Concorde could land on). The flights that go from here are mainly to neighbouring countries or Germany though. For everything else you need to fly via Johannesburg.

That said, we have one of Southern Africa's busiest light aircraft (anything up to a Learjet or a DC6, pretty much) airports smack-bang in the middle of town.

the old Stevenson story reimagined. I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed a twist on familiar characters.

A Good Day to Die Hard: 5/10

This is sort of a hard one to call - I had fun watching it, but if I really think hard enough about it, the whole thing comes across as a bit dire. Actually, I'm sugar coating - it's terrible throughout. Terrible plot, acting, dialogue, even the (unbelievable amount of) special effects were fairly poor at times but despite all this, it was still a fun film to watch. Should this franchise have been stopped dead at #3? Oh yes, unquestionably. Number four was pushing it, but passable. This one though... this is the one that should never have happened. This is Bruce Willis at the end of his acting career, milking the franchise that made him famous. Empire gave it a seriously harsh 2* review and thinking about it carefully, I find it hard to disagree with anything they said. I only gave it a 5 because I enjoyed how absolutely pants and unbelievable it was at times, but compared to the first three it was disastrous.

If I had to sum it all up in a couple of sentences, it would go something like this; Think back to Die Hard (yes, the first one, from 2.5 decades ago). Remember how over-acted most of Alan Rickman's part was? Fairly cheesy and laying on the "European Terrorist" vibe just a little too thick most of the time? Multiply that by about 10, add some cringe worthy Hollywood cheese, imagine every actor in an entire film doing that and lay it over the top of some ridiculous special effects. That's this film in a nutshell.

My movie collection shelf needs more content. Which movies would you recommend?

At the moment, I'm mostly interested in apocalyptic movies. Dont care if its zombies, superplague, war or your friendly mad scientist next door gone over the deep end. As long as its apocalyptic and definitely not happy, I'm going to like it.

Went to so Wreck it Ralph, it's ace.

Although, it's probably the most violent film Disney have put out as a 'kids' film since the nineties. There are a lot of ways to die in Ralph's world. A lot of it sails over the head of the sprogs though, thank God.

    wreck it Ralph 9/10

Thought it was an excellent and I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a watch

A Good Day to Die Hard 6/10

Was a good film I enjoyed watching it but I did feel dissapointed by it at the end of the day. as It just doesnt live up to the earlier ones. the 6/10 is for a decent plot and story line. would have been higher if it was upto the first 2 films

Wreck it Ralph - excellent. Really enjoyed the concept, the writing, the plot, and all the references to other real world games. 10/10

    The dark knight rises .../10

Just saw it last night, too fresh to really put down a score.
    A major letdown, anyway.

Drama, drama, drama, miracle healing, drama, action, drama , more drama, bit of action, end of movie after nearly three hours.
Watched Batman begins and the dark knight in the week before, both movies with more....hmmm fun? Panache? Dont know what to call it but i was simply bored throughout this movie while the first two were great.

    Amour - 5/10

Anyone that pays much attention to film reviews will have heard of this - it's Oscar-nominated for best film and best director categories, plus others. Empire Magazine gave it 5 stars, calling it a "must see" film. I think Mark Kermode put it in his top 10 films of 2012. Who am I to argue with an entire industry?

It's slow, tedious, and stands out only because it bothers to portray a subject that most film makers wouldn't bother with because so few people would actually want to see it. It's about a couple in their 80s and the decline of the wife after a stroke. Yes, it does it in a realistic fashion, and the acting performances are fine-to-good, but the story is so boring and unappealing. And I'm not someone incapable of facing the realities of old age and death, I just can't see the point in watching some fictional characters doing it. Many of us will have to go through similar experiences at least once in our lives, why watch a film of some randoms doing it?

There's about a 90 second scene of the old bloke trying to catch a pigeon, FFS, and not in an entertaining way, just ***king tediously.

Avoid. Don't believe the hype. Go and spend two hours with someone who's dying rather than supporting this film.

    Wrath of the Titans 6/10

Lots of big kaboom and smoke and dustexplosions...
Well that's really all there is, wasn't boring (or exiting) though, and they didn't make it unneccesary long.
Amazing lot of star-actors for a mediocre film like this (curse of the sequel I suppose)
Bill Nighy's character was a laugh, so plus one point for that.

    Ice Age 4 7/10

Wow, whaddayaknow, the gag density is a lot higher than in the previous three movies, which finally raises the series onto mediocracy.

    Wreck it Ralph - 6/10

Concepts were great and it started off good then got a bit boring if I'm honest. I was expecting far more homage to other games, but I suppose IP costs and all that.. The voice actress for the main girl was exceptionally annoying and she's been in so many kids stuff that grate me.
