    Battlestar Galactica Mini series/ Pilot ( 2003 )

    Fapfapfap/10

I'm a little behind on my TV shows, but it was about time I started watching the box set I bought a little while back; epic is all I can say. This is a remake done right...

I can dig that character being a chick. The old version will always be the cheesy starwars ripoff it was and that's why we loved it, can't & shouldn't compare it to the more gritty & realistic remake though- same with a lot of remakes these days that suffer due to unfair comparisons..

I still think they should have cameo'd Dirk Benedict in Starbucks flashbacks to her dad.

    Garden State - 7/10
Didn't really know a lot about this film before watching it, had it for aaaages just never got around to watching it. Not sure exactly what type of film it is, a rom com in places I guess. About a slightly troubled young man who goes back to his home town to see his family at the funeral of his mother having not seen them for 9 years, it then follows him as he reconnects with old friends and tries to sort his life out.

Hummingbird (Redemption in the US I think) - 7/10
Jason Statham film, so sadly you can almost assume the plot/writing is going to be a bit meh. But it's Statham, and I always find he brings enough to the role he plays to make the film enjoyable, this one is about a man on the run trying to turn his life around in a summer in London when some favourable circumstances occur. Wasn't what I was exactly expecting, but it was enjoyable enough, considering it was Statham film he remained extremely covered up in the film which is unusual for him :p

    The hunger games 3/10

An overrated poor mans battle royale. Twas a mission to finish.

    Drinking Buddies - 6/10
I like a couple of the cast, which is the reason I got it in the first place I believe. Not terrible, Rom Com that doesn't 100% follow the normal formula.

    Kick Ass 2 - 6/10
Not really sure how to rate this, the sequel to Kick Ass makes the first one look sensible in my opinion, many utterly ridiculous scenes, most of the film was bordering on stupid for me, but it had some funny bits and action, if you loved the first you'll probably like the 2nd.

    The Wolverine - 7/10
Latest in the X-Men series of films, just more about Logan, mainly set after The Last Stand, has some pretty cool fight scenes, as well as some pretty people :p Fairly lengthly but the time passed quickly :)

    No-ones gone in yet with:

    The Hobbit 2 8/10

Highly enjoyable, good battles, immersive, and exciting. It varied from the book (as did the first film) but that just made it more interesting, but didn't go off course. I thought that some of the characters were quite well done and brought up to date nicely
    Beorn being Scandinavian
    .

Overall I'd say go see it, and it only really loses some stars as there is a tiny bit of PJ's "add a love interest" going on, and as with the first hobbit, it does really do anything new and exciting above the first trilogy. But then you don't want anything new really, you want it to continue to be a great watch.

I saw it yesterday as well and agree with all points. Seems like what they did is take the 1st LotR book and incorporate parts of that into the Hobbit to explain the origins of characters/events that were never explained in the movies, otherwise they would have been too long.

Really? I don't remember any sparkly vampires in LOTF. Perhaps the version I did for O Level English was edited? ;) :hehe:

    Riddick 6.5/10

much better then chronicles but lacking the excitement of the original (cant believe its been 13 years since Pitch Black) it makes several mistakes such as introducing the alien threat too early and in a non suspenseful manner. tbh thinking about it now it doesn't know what it wants to be, part horror/part action film.

I think im going to go watch Aliens again, that got the genre mix right.

Be prepared to be disappointed. No other film in history disappoints on such an epic scale than Aliens or god forbid the "Special Edition" which is even worse. It has not aged well at all. The below pair acting was almost forgiven for the action back in 1986 but it is so bad today that I think it gave me cancer! (Calculon - Futurama)
