American assassin 5/10 generic wanna be Bourne movie . Bright 8/10 after the bad press it has been getting its not bad, few questions remain un answered and glad to hear a sequel is being made. but watching the fresh prince blurt out he is 5 years to retirement in a murtauge-esqe manner makes me feel old one for fans of shadowrun
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 8/10 A very enjoyable flick. I loved the original (I think most people do) and this doesn't detract from it at all. Nice to see a reboot that doesn't just shamelessly rip off old ideas - good cast, genuine laugh out loud moments and an engaging storyline. The video game format was quite enjoyable too. Definitely worth a watch!
Dunkirk 7/10, this is one movie I good have done with seeing at the flicks. Enjoyed it though and thinking of going to see Darkest Hour soon.
Logan Lucky - 9/10. Watched this without reading/hearing anything about it, was pleasantly surprised! possibly the best film I watched in 2017 tbh (Not that I watch many) Bright - 7/10. Nowhere near as bad as the reviews would have you believe, did feel a little 'random' though. perfectly watchable if nothing special.
Spectre - Just another Bond Movie/10 Yeah, very late to the party, it came out when we were sorting out moving to NZ so it got missed in my house. Finally got around to watching it last night. Honestly, pretty tiresome, although it was slightly less Carry On Bond and with not quite so many references to how STDs are passed around. Don't need to watch again.
Bright - Hard to score, but... 6.5/10 It's mostly about the world that they've created. The world is fascinating and interesting, and I for one would love to learn more about it. Spoiler What are the other six races? What about that dragon? Do fairy lives really not matter? How many magic users are there? So yeah, I for one am hoping for a sequel in which the world is explored more. Beyond Skyline - Well, it was never going to be a 10 was it?/10 I remember the original Skyline as a surprisingly tense popcorn sci-fi flick, and the open ended ending certainly set the stage for a sequel. It took seven years, but finally we get to see more of the after-effects of the invasion and some stabs at an explanation for the invasion. As a mindless splatter fest it is entertaining enough, and there are some genuinely tense moments in here. Just don't expect something truly epic...
Spoiler So, you didn't notice the couple of times they showed a riot gear equipped centaur cop then? BTW - Netflix have already spoken of a sequel.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Milking space Walrus tits/10 Well I've seen it twice now, first time I thought it was OK but honestly, it's a bad movie. Bad dialogue (really bad dialogue, even by Star Wars famously cheesy standards), nonsensical plot, some really ropey effects in places, poor cinematography by Star Wars standards and gratuitous slloooooowwww mooooo. It's blighted by JJ Abrams and his lazy methods of film making.
You realise that Luke was pissed at Rey because he would have been sucking the milk straight from the titty had she not been there. Explains why he's so bad at drinking from a cup.
I'd have to rewatch, but I don't remember anything coming even remotely close to the weapons-grade cringe of the prequels. Not to mention the infamous "sand" conversation... I personally don't like JJ Abrams' filmmaking, but TLJ was directed by Rian Johnson. Unless you mean Abrams sent the franchise in the wrong direction with TFA.
I'd watch TLJ again. As for the Phantom Menace... Would I prefer to watch that again, the Last Temptation of Christ, Lost in Translation or have my fingernails pulled out. Hm, pass me the pliers.
I will give you that, nothing in this film was quite as bad the prequels, but that is a very, very low bar to be reaching. Mainly it's the barrage of cheap gags that annoyed me the most (let's go Chrome Dome, really? REALLY?). Abram's produced this one, approved the script and was in charge of all the post production. Plus it follows on from TFA, which he wrote, produced and directed. These are JJ's babies and he clearly wants to be the next George Lucas, which is a wish I believe is being granted for him.
If you want to be less generous you can argue that not content with ruining one well-loved franchise, he set his sights on ruining another...
Yeah, and there's the obvious common theme. Basically, Dancing with the Stars better watch the **** out.
