Deadwood the movie 9/10 good fitting end to the series, but i really shoulda watched Seasons 1-3 as i have forgotten so much and preety sad the some of the cast have passed away since. also prolly the last series from Milch as he is suffering from Alzheimers
Wait it's out already? I swear I only heard about it recently, assumed it hadn't even finished filming yet. Definitely need to rewatch the TV series and see this then!
Aladdin - 9/10 For real. It's amazing fun to watch, complete with nostalgic moments, the old songs, the old story and WIll Smith killing it. Not a "movie", but Good Omens (Series) - 9/10 It's been a good weekend for watching things for me. This is near perfect, honestly.
Then They See Us - 8/10 Me and the wife love watching anything crime/court/justice related - especially when it based on a true story. This didn't disappoint. Was harrowing, upsetting, engaging and infuriating. Watched the whole thing over the weekend in 3 sessions.
Godzilla, King of the Monsters its GodZilla, what more needs to be said (9) /10 Went in hoping to see Giant monsters smacking each other around and smashing cities to bits, and thats pretty much what you get, dont go in expecting deep characters or amazing writing here. but the acting is very passable and the action is solid
Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 8/10 Is it The Dark Knight Returns? No, but it's dumb, fun, and I enjoyed it.
I am Mother - 8/10 Aperture Movie Laboratories, that's all you need to know. Best to fire up Netflix and go in to this one blind (The trailer is a little spoiler-y).
Men in Black - International 8/10 At least as good as the others. And not a sodding reboot, which is lovely.
Tagged as such even though i'm not sure it qualifies as a spoiler... Spoiler ...Wasn't untill i saw the video from WETA that I noticed 'Mother' isn't CGI... it's a dude in a suit...
Spoiler If you enjoyed the official WETA video, there's also a Tested video where Adam Savage fawns over the suit as the effects supervisor (who was the guy in the suit) breaks down the challenges that went in to it.
Captain Marvel - Almost Marvelous/10 One of the better solo Marvel films. Enjoyed that they hadn't tried to cram in as many jokes as possible, as has been the trend lately, but it was almost ruined by Jude Law. What a horrendous casting and a terrible plank-like performance. Just no. Otherwise enjoyable though. Just endgame left now.
Office Uprising 7/10 Horror comedy with Zach Levi and the cab driver from deadpool where office workers in a highrise based weapon R&D company are turned into hyper-violent sociopaths after drinking a new energy drink developed for the military (think shaun of the dead crossed with sunset overdrive). typical popcorn movie, disengage brain and enjoy.
Spoiler I started watching this and within the first five minutes I was like... the robot is the antagonist and is responsible for the extinction of humankind. For low-budget scifi it's pretty impressive but the story is same old, same old.
Spoiler I can't argue with that, but what I found innovative was the scope of it's plan. Everything, including Daughter's escape, was part of the test.
Cobra Kai season one 9/10 I was expecting this to be a really shitty show, i think when they first announced there some blurb about it being a comedy type show. like me my kids are fans of the orignal trilogy and wanted to watch this. they way they fleshed out a down on his luck and prolly drinking himself to death Johnny Lawrence teaching kids who were getting bullied was nice touch. the best eps are the ones where Daniel and Johnny end up face to face. only down side is the training sequences they seemed to fast tracked it a little too much and obviously there is no MR Miyagi as that would have been the icing on the cake
