Watching it on the 29th (Boris dictat dependant).

Going to go in with just hoping it's at least halfway entertaining. Anything more will be a bonus. I mean, let's face facts: the second and third film were completely unnecessary.

    No Retreat, No Surrender.

    Man.

How in the heck do you go from loving a movie as a child to wanting to knife yourself to death watching it 40 years later? Dear god this movie is appalling. For some reason when I watched it as a enthusiastic yet naive child I didn't seem to notice the absolute atrocity of terrible acting. No wonder nearly all of the cast never acted in another movie.

I'm actually scared to watch Bloodsport or Kickboxer again now..

We watched Se7en again recently, remembered loving it, watched it and found it pretty lame.

I have a similar thought to you about old films I loved now, I think I may just avoid them and keep the memories intact.

    Matrix Resurrections - 7/10

It's.. Fine? The original trilogy, to my mind, left it open enough that this works sequel wise, but I don't feel like it really needed to exist.

Still. Some funny moments, some good action, the story made a lick of sense (Which, IMO, is rare for Wachowski films after the first Matrix..).

It loses something on a second run through - not living through the shock moments and reveals with the characters removes you from the moment. I imagine watching The Crying Game again would be similarly underwhelming.

The first 40 minutes felt like tongue-in-cheek parody, plus there were a LOT of revisited locations and general fan service moments, but it was an enjoyable couple of hours.

    Road House
    It's a bloody classic / 10 , but I'm biased as I do like Sam Elliott

    The Suicide Squad
Brain out and enjoy the bloodfest / 10, silly sillyness with gun play aplenty, I really hope Idris Elba get's to play Bond before his time is up.

Yeah. It wasn't bad, and I liked it fine, it just didn't feel necessary to me.

As per the Guess the Film thread, I just watched The Fly II. I've seen it many times, and it gets a solid 7/10 from me.

    Palm Springs - 7/10
Surprisingly good for a concept that has been ridden to death so many times.

    Drive - 6/10
Somehow missed that when it was new. Not particularly good or bad really.

    Free Guy - 8/10
the fun that "ready player one" could have been. Could have been more over the top (lego movie style) though.

    Jungle Cruise - 7/10
My wife loved it, I thought the characters were too stereotype.

Matrix 4 - 6/10 the opening 40 mins is just about how the wachowskis didn't want to make it. the action sequences are very tame and boring its just john wick doing a Abra-cadabra poses mostly. not as bad over all as i thought it was going to be but it should have been much more. a lazy sequel at best
rather then making trinty part of the one there should have been more of her kicking arse

Home Alone 2021 5/10 some laffs here and there and and a token throw back to the orignal two films

Space Sweepers 7/10 decent sci-fi not anything special but watchable

Cowboy Bebop live action 4/10 no wonder netflix **** canned it. turning of of main charectors in a overgown foul mouthed spoilt brat was huge mistake and some of the "tweaks" to story ruins it and a few miscasts as well. no way should this have been made when the english dub of the anime was so good in the first place

Die Hard 8/10 30yr old action flick that my eldest wanted to watch mainly due to bro force game. still a joy to watch, only gripe is the version on Disney has terrible pic quality.

Arcane LoL 8/10 its been some time since i played league of legends and hardly remember much of the lore surrounding it but this series is awesome

    Matrix Resurrections - meh/10

Is the film a classic? Never was going to be.

Will shut in nerds get angry about it? More than likely.

Did it stop me from thinking about slitting my wrists during the duration? Yes.

Would I have it playing in the background while I do housework or cooking? Yes.

Is it worth seeing if you have nothing better to do and want to do something sociable with friends (sitting next to each other in silence in a darkened room counts as sociable BTW)? Yes.

Now give me my goddamn Critic of the Year Award pls.

    Venom 2

Fun and Short for a comic book movie at 1hr 37mins including around 15 minutes of credits/ post credits scene!

Laughed out loud a number of times and I feel it was better than the first one as it didn’t take itself seriously one bit!

    Woody Harrelsons hair though… Dee-aaaamn

Matrix 4 - needs extracting from its own ar*e/10

Possible that it went so far to that in a few years it'll be seen as so bad it's enjoyable? But at the moment it's just a bit, what? Why? Seriously? Oh god. They did. *Facepalm*

Tbh the whole thing was summed up by the "brain storming" sequence - far to meta for its own good.

Neil Patrick Harris was a good big bad, but replacing Morpheus and agent Smith, nah that didn't work/help.

I think they may have managed to distill all that was bad of the original sequels into one near package.
And if they've achieved anything is that people will now look back at 2&3 and realise that they weren't actually that bad...

To be fair, I suppose it depends on the mentality you go in with. If you expect it to measure up to the original, you are going to be extremely disappointed. It was a completely unnecessary film.

However, the story does have a flow to it, which a lot of modern films seem to lack. For example, I'd rather watch it than Suicide Squad (2016) or Star Trek Beyond, whose plots were so disjointed I thought I'd fallen asleep at some points.

I don't think the directors will be getting their hands on such a large budget ever again, anyway.

    White Tiger (2012) - 5/10

Argh and it started off so well as well, beautifully shot and intriguing plot before absolutely ****ing car crashing in the 4th and final act, also feels like it owuld have been better if acts 3 and 4 were switched.

    damn shame.

Decided to start watching the MCU series of films, had always shied away from them in the past, and whilst no one's going to be getting an Oscar for acting in them I'm finding them pretty decent entertainment. I'm only 3 in (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2) so far.

Just finished watching 'Lost In Space' (new series) season three, pretty good even though it tends to be CGI in the action scenes, all-in-all i've really enjoyed it.

Huh, how's this for a coinkydink - we just got done watching this as a family. Maybe a little more transphobic than I remembered it being, but you can't say Williams doesn't bring the laughs and the tears. Hell of an actor.
