Jeez guys seriously, why does it get so salty in here on like a weekly basis, can't we just be a bit nicer to each other? Bit-Tech is down to about 10 active members, we can't afford to start eating each other. And can't we just agree that using spoiler tags for endings and spoilers is, like, really common practice and basic etiquette when talking about films? I've literally never heard someone defend their right to throw unmarked spoilers around in a general discussion before, that's just such a strange hill to want to die on man.
I reviewed The Mist like I'd review any other film - I don't care how many (or how few) people may not have watched it or how old it is; it doesn't make much sense to review and recommend a movie whilst in the same breath divulging details that ought to be uncovered as part of the viewing experience. Back OT... Another 48hrs 4/10 This is definitely a "so bad it's good" movie IMO, with buckets of nostalgia points from me since I first watched it as a pimply teenager. It's definitely more of a 2/10 in reality, but enjoyable nevertheless, especially if you like the 80s vibe.
Alien 10/10 I can't fault this movie... I just can't. It's amazing. Aliens will always be my favourite in the franchise, but damn this movie packs a punch. What gets me most is how good the set design is, considering it was all done in the 70s. It was way ahead of its time, and call me old fashioned but it's nice watching a movie where all the sets and effects are practical. Very excited to watch the 4K version of Aliens next!
Doing the Rebel Moons back to back. The first was, well, ok. Currently started the second and can't say I'm currently being grabbed by: Spoiler Excessive slow motion farming Edit: Spoiler After yet more farming it's a sing-song. Bit of a yawn fest at the moment... Edit: Edit: Well it got better but I'd only class it as ok if there's nothing else more interesting on. Apparently Snyder wants to make four more sequels....
You're way kinder than me. I found the first one to be utter rubbish, and somehow, the second part was even worse, to the point that my friend and I ended up chatting about stuff instead of watching it. Still, there are those that liked the first part (I think it was you, @Byron C ?). I'd be interested in hearing from someone who enjoyed the first film what they thought of the second. And yeah, I'm pretty sure at least 30% of the film was slow motion manual wheat harvesting.
New one on me, I'm afraid! Got some good cast members there, and it certainly looks like something that would ordinarily blow my frock up... But it's never a good sign when the second paragraph of a wikipedia article has the line: "It received generally negative reviews from critics." Can't say I ever had much of a lob-on for Zack Snyder tbh. 300 was kinda interesting from a visual point of view, but that's the only favourable thing I can recall about it off the top of my head. These days I think the memes are probably better-known than the film is
The Black Phone 8/10 Thoroughly enjoyed this. Loved the retro vibes and the mood, and it has just the right level of creepiness to be unsettling without being ridiculous. Marvellous. Bullet Train ?/10 What even is this crap? Stopped after 10 mins... couldn't stand the pretentions tone; definitely not one for me.
Wow, almost a month of inactivity on this thread? Godzilla Minus One 10/10 I resisted the urge to pirate this movie and I'm really glad I did, because it's just come out on Netflix. Watched it with my boy this evening. Hard to score this one lower than perfect. I knew that I was in for a treat with the VFX, but the story was a lot deeper than I expected and very well done. Cracking movie, cinematic masterpiece.
