It's like The Asylum made one of their usual ripoffs Get you to Lower Decks immediately! Strange New Worlds (the Disco S2 spinoff with Capt Pike back on the Enterprise) is good too.
It was supposed to be a series but they made it a 90 min film. If you like Michelle Yeoh and her character from Discovery it's an ok watch but it barely does anything for her story after she left the show but this film will barely be on my re-watch list.
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Absolutely amazing. There's an ethos to the way they approach world design and jokes that feels like a wonderful little time capsule. It's the moon logic of a point and click adventure applied to the whole world. And the stop motion is just incredible. It looks amazing. The cinematography is sophisticated. The story is almost all visual. I was really wowed by the whole thing.
Alien Romulus: Not bad but not great/10 Watched this last night with some chums. Was just a TV in a lounge whilst occasionally chatting about things, so not the most focussed watch. I went in with moderately low hopes and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't make me regret watching it (like Prometheus, for example). It was interesting to see the background of the Alien universe expanded upon. There were some nice little Easter eggs too, even from Alien Isolation. Unfortunately for any modern Alien films, the original and its sequel are so iconic and well put together, that nothing will ever come close, no matter the effort put in. The only thing that has remotely come close to the high standard set is Alien Isolation (though I've yet to play Dark Decent). Which, to me, means that if anyone wants to continue the Alien universe, it has to be done through computer games that genuinely respect the source material. So, in summary, if you do decide to watch it, at least you won't be wasting your time.
Commando: 11/10 Yeah, yeah, I've watched it many times, as I imagine several people on here have. Just...pure excellence. Arnie in his prime. I don't know if the film is either completely oblivious to realism, or if it's actually self-aware and having a bit of fun. Doesn't matter, it's always entertaining to watch.
Gravity ?/10 I cant really give this a score because while its a good albeit not amazeballs film; for me it seems to hit differently than most movies, I don't know if its the subject matter, the directing, the stunning soundtrack by Steven Price or a combination but whenever I watch this I always get emotional and start welling up. go figure
Stone Cold (1991): I am more of a man for watching this film /10 This film has: Boobs Guns Explosions Violence Cruiser motorbikes Awesome haircuts Early 90s undercover cop storyline Shirtless protagonist Banging music Lance Henriksen And the best part? You can watch it completely for free on the Youtubes!
Secondhand Lions https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327137/ A good old fashioned family film for a rainy weekend afternoon
The Substance - Amazing/10 It was fun from start to finish. It goes too far in the best of ways. It's weird, and campy, but holds off on the camp until the very end. Before that, the camp could be mistaken for strong art direction (because the art direction is amazing). The metaphor is there from beginning to end. It feels weirdly grounded and "real" despite its obvious fakeness. The cartoonish performances from all of the male characters are amazing, especially Dennis Quaid's character. If Poor Things was a modern impressionist version of Frankenstein, then The Substance is a modern impressionist version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Strong recommend.
JASON STATHAM is STASON STATHAM in a film about JASON STATHAM being JASON STATHAM. In this film, JASON STATHAM plays a completely different role than usual: a retired tough guy WHO WEARS A HAT saving a child from gangsters who are into all sorts of crime. Will JASON STATHAM save the day (again)? Or will this be the one film where JASON STATHAM doesn't save the day? Only by watching this film will you find out! Critics have this to say about this once-in-a-generation masterpiece of cinema: "I like the bit where JASON STATHAM punches someone" - Ben Dover "The ending where JASON STATHAM wins caught me completely by surprise" - Somet Wat "JASON STATHAM should have got his bum out more" - Imma P. Rick "Who the Hell are you and why are you stopping me to ask stupid questions in the street?"- Rand Omstranger
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12037194/ I'd be peeved if I'd paid money to watch it / 10 Not totally terrible, and some nice nods to the cinematography of the original MM films, but does nothing to further or add to the MM universe.
I can confirm. Plus I've recently watched M3GAN It's allegedly a horror movie but it's really not. What it is is hilarious. Well worth a watch if you want a light hearted, funny, AI doll killer movie.
Companion: 4.5/10 Retarded whiney liberals think they're clever and stage a murder using an AI powered sex bot and to no surprise it all goes tits up. The only thing more irritating than the characters was Sophie Thatcher's front teeth.
