Yeah - I read about that.
Watching it, there is a bit of a political bit in there, but no more than in, say, Max Payne... In general the movie feels like a slower (though betetr acted, and yet not as "cool") version of Max Payne.
It's less political than Prison Break, and it seems like they cut all the political conwspiracy parts in favour of more scenes of Mel Gibson haluscinating, shooting unconvincinly and notably NOT crying but looking like he'd like to (though int he context of the film that last bit makes sense)

    The last Airbender (7/10)
    :jawdrop:
No honestly, I didn't think it was bad at all.
I mean, it's a reworked anime and for that the plot is pretty good and the characters are according.
Better plot than the average Jacky Chan movie anyway :D (and I like jacky Chan movies)

Really don't see why the critics were so bad.
Then again, I don't know the series, and I didn't (thankfully) watch it in !!!3D!!! so...

It's noticable that it was planne to be the first part of a trilogy though, the story halts somewhat in the middle (but so do many trilogies)

I'd rate it about the same actually.

Based on the Anime (it was the film of the first season Book One: Water), I thought it was pretty close to it's source. Although saying that I still need to see the remaining seasons.

Saw Thor last week and I must say I enjoyed it from start to finish. The acting was good, the effects were good and the storyline was also good. It had a good split between Earth and their realm.

One comical comment on the way out of the cinema I overheard someone say "I enjoyed the start but then it all got a bit unrealistic" this made me chuckle very much.

    4 out of 5 stars

Are we even allowed to feel nostalgic about the 90s already? I feel old :(

    Thor: 8/10
Really enjoyed it. Acting was great, dropping Shield in now and again almost brings the idea of a sub plot throughout all of the films (does this play out in the comics?) Great introduction to part two if it makes it to production. Ultimately about 100 times better than The Green Hornet.

So, who's earning more, Stan Lee or Hugh Heffner (sp?)

Re-watched Doomsday yesterday, I actually enjoyed it even more than the first time. So many nods to the Escape from LA style films, music especially. Good, silly, mindless fun :)

Empire of the Wolves 6/10 L'empire des loups

Not quite sure what's wrong with it, there are a lot of plot-twists and to the end, the story feels very rushed.

It's from the same writer as "Red Blood Rivers" (Les rivières pourpres) wich is great, but also "Vidocq" which is....difficult

Not a movie, but I'm watching season 1 of 'The Wire' and it's great.

Finished season 1 of 'Luther' last week, was also excellent.

Just saw for the first time an old movie: "Matrix."
It contrasts really looking at life and living with just accepting all the garbage that we are feed and drifting along. Its the truth

    Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

    4/10

The worst of the Pirates films, and not much action in such a long time.
The fact that there isn't even a ship battle disappointed me.

Why would you even say this? It's not like there are sequels of the movie out there that we need to deny the existence of. I mean, that's just absurd.

    What sequels?

You know what, it's a shame they never made another Matrix movie. The first one was so good.

Yeah, I know. Problem is, though, would they be able to recapture the thrill and excitement of the first movie? I think any sequels might just turn into a shambling mess of a film with a confusing storyline and too many CGI effects. Added to which, one of the actors from the original has died, and how on earth would they be able to work the storyline around that?

No, I think we'll just have to be happy that Wachowski's stopped with the first movie.

    ;)

Watched RED the other day, quite enjoyed it although wasnt as funny as i had hoped. Next movie to watch is probably Love and Other drugs as i have a strange fascination with Jake Gylenhal.
