X-men Origins: Wolverine 9/10 Great film and very easy to follow, no silly over-complicated plot which requires you to keep going back to watch sections repeatedly/ explain it to your gf etc. A few plot holes or gaps that could have done with filling better, but otherwise a very well rounded action film giving the backstory to a central character in the X-men series.
Immortals. I-cant-believe-they-wasted-money-on-this-****/10 It went from bad, to worse, to tragically awful. Piss poor CGI (seriously, mount Olympus looked like it was cut out from card and everyone in the cinema laughed when the wave of oil hit them), non-existent or consistent plot, needless gore - not just violence, not even impressive gore - needless sensational gore that neither impressed nor fitted with the scene. I was so disgusted with having wasted my time I abandoned my wife in the cinema to wait outside. We've only been married two weeks. I physically could not stand to sit there and be suffocated any further. I'm not an anti-gore anti-violence person - I hold 300 and Sin City in high regard as impressive film making, but this.. this!? I am going to find the graves of ancient Greeks and attach a dynamo to what's left of their remains. They must be spinning so hard we can cure the worlds energy crisis for the next millennia. With the $75 MILLION this took to make, we could have donated 750,000 goats to African families. You could have cured famine in Somalia for **** sake. In future, I hope they consider doing this instead.
lol wow.. I thought the cgi was good at the end I liked how they filmed the fight around the titans cage.. well except maybe right when he pulled the chains down- that was too drawn out.. something about that scene with the gods in the cage reminded me of fps gaming like you have all the lubed running around a map and then there's you taking out 20 for every 1.. or in quake 2 it was 40 to 0
Underworld (2003) 7/10 Pretty silly movie but very enjoyable nonetheless. I haven't even finished watching it so might change my rating depending on the ending.
Nothing to Declare (5/10) Rien à déclarer Simply put, not funny enough, loses it's pace in places. Has great moments and potential, but doesn't make the best of it. A big disapointment really +1 I like the entire series really
Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace 5/10 (loses marks for value, if it was cheaper or had more than a couple of short extras it would have got a 7). Some very funny bits (if you've seen any of the Lego games you'll know what to expect - except that the characters talk instead of babble) that make it worth watching, but at only 20 minutes long it's not worth buying (unless you really want the young Han Solo Lego minifig that comes with the Blu-Ray version or have to have anything and everything Star Wars related).
The one with Rhona Mitra was ok. You knew what was going to happen, but it was an enjoyable romp nonetheless. Still, Ms. Beckinsale is exceptionally hotter than Mitra.
Assault on Precinct 13 ( remake ) 6.5/10 Not terribly faithful to the original, kinda like the remake of the Italian Job in that respect, but still an okay action film really in it's own right. The plot/reason for the assault made more sense this time around ( vs being a mystery in the original, kinda annoying that was ) I suppose, though it did cause the film to be a bit predictable or not hold your interest as well as it could have done.
The Green Lantern (extended cut) 5/10 A thorough "Meh" for mediocricy. Also a bit long, but that migt have been due to the extended cut
Alien Ressurection. 5/10 Having ordered the alien saga on bluray and having seen all the others I thought I'd see if the last installment was as bad as i remembered. In short it is and it isn't. I don't really consider it an alien film. It's not scary at any level. That being said the set design and the actual creature animations are nice. First half is actually okay losing its way in the final 3rd and just falls apart towards the end. Bring on Prometheus!
Underworld: Evolution 8/10 MUCH better than the first one IMO - better paced, better special effects, better plot, better acting. Would love to get this on bluray and watch it on the Bravia.
^I just got the trilogy on Blu ray, very nice (although the third one isn't as good imo) I got it on sale in HMV but it's probably still cheaper on amazon or something. There is a fourth one on the way from what I hear and I think Kate Beckinsale is back
Ashamed to say I have only just seen 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'. 8/10 I liked it and by the end had entirely forgotten that I was reading subtitles. Excellent story and well paced, with a good ending. I won't watch the remake as I detest remakes for the sake of them. I have heard the dubbed version is poo. Can't wait for the next installment from Love Film.
Yeah, she is, and I'll be going to see that one at the cinema no matter how bad it is! I'm probably going to watch the third one purely out of morbid curiosity; I have very low expectations of it because I HATE sequels/prequels which drop the main character - it usually means the budget was too low or the star turned it down because they thought it looked like crap.
I know what you mean, the funny thing is that I think the director is married to Kate Beckinsale Anyways, it's not a bad movie it's just that there are no guns, cars or computers because it's all set in the old days, and I prefer more modern settings.
Also: It has Rhona Mitra in it... also hooooot! And "Uncle Victor"... While the third one was well a bit "shiny and brite - do you speak micra?", it was no less entertaining than the others...
Kingdom of Heaven. Subtract some of the fight scenes and honestly the movie is pretty good. Some of it's dramatized, but at the very least it was a good film to watch. 8/10 I forgot to mention: It was the directors cut.
