Im thinking about making a DIY projector from an old LCD monitor, i understand how to do it and all, but have some questions.

What type or specific light bulb should i use? What works best, cost is also a concern.
Wheres the best place to get them?

Also, wheres the best place to get the lenses for a DIY projector?

    Thanks.

The lense costs the most, use google and have a quick look on ebay, you can often find a few usefull tips.

    good luck on it.

Yes ebay is a good place for lenses, google around for ones that will work. As for lamps, you'll want the brightest possible, so some sort of halogen, xenon, or other bulb will work. Automotive bulbs should be good because they run on a nice 12v.

Also, take a look at this project and ask the_gnu if you have any questions.
