Windows the point of 64bit operating systems

    might seems a dense question but what is the point of running the 64bit version of vista over the 32 bit one. plus the 64 bit xp really

    admittedly i am running the 64bit rc2 so i cant really compare but it doesnt seem to do anything magical. it runs a tad faster tahn xp, but i put that down to the less crap loading up at startup.

    Technically, if the software supports it, you may experience better times for processes and the data can be stored in longer words.

    You can run over four gigs of ram. Really not much more to it than that AFAIK.

    Faster at some intensive processor stuff like video and audio encoding providing the software is made for it.

    hmm so this 64bit internet explorer is pointless lol. oh well 64 bit sounds better if nowt else
