Anything but boring, very envious. :p
Nexxo, I was inspired by the last post of your desktop and opted for that mirranda messenger. However, how did you make yours look so good?

It is not MSN; it is Miranda IM --a Messenger that does everything: MSN, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ etc.

Miranda IM is a bit hackware-ish. There are many plug-ins and themes, but you have to piece them together a bit. However there are short-cuts. First download Miranda Pack, which installs Miranda IM 0.7.1 with all the major plug-ins you could conceivably need (you can upgrade to the latest Miranda IM 0.7.3 build later).

Then download the ModernClear skin. If you can't get it from the link posted there (the Miranda website servers seem to be down at the moment), grab it from my on-line storage space here instead.

Then it's a matter of playing around with the many settings in the Miranda Options menu.
    That's right. :D

Very clean looking Nexxo, despite the fact we both own the same monitor, mine looks more cluttered, but i do have 2 rows of icons on the left hand side.

Indeed it is. I have quite a few just like it saved in my "Mission Highlights" collection. The title actually tells you exactly which photo it is:
    iss07-e-10807
iss = Indicates that this photo was taken by a Space Station astronaut. (as opposed to a Space Shuttle astronaut)
07 = Indicates that this photo was taken during Expedition 7. Ed Lu was the American resident at that time, so it is highly likely that he took this photo.
e = Indicates that this was taken with the digital camera, a Kodak DCS760. It's becoming more and more rare, but every now and then some photos come down on film.
    10807 = This was photo #10807.

It's Rocketdock with what looks like a standard icon set and built-in skin. The bar at the top is a Yahoo! Widget called informer which acts as an RSS feed reader- I used it myself for a bit but didn't find it did all I wanted.

I tried installing Miranda but the souped-up version doesn't seem to have any support for clients other than Jabber and ICQ, even though the standard install did :worried:. I'm also confused as to how you install/apply a skin?

I sorta hacker the plugins for my miranda as i found the same thing as you A88 so i manualy coppied the MSN, AOL & yahoo .dll files from the lates install and put them in the right place for the souped up version. which works fine. and to install a skin for me was all trail and error.

all i did was go to the options menu, then into customize > contactlist skin. and i did it in there. although i found that i had to have the souped up version to get this to work at all.

Right-click, go to Options. Select "Contact List" in the left pane, and the "Window" on the right. There are the "always on top" and "pin to desktop" controls.

    I think so. Look here.

That is RocketDock. Above it is Yahoo Widgets Informer.

Nexxo, sorry for being a nuisance. :worried:
Could you tell me how you seemed to have changed the opacity of the sidebar?
How did you move the Sidebar to the left, with the RSS feeds staying centered?
And, finally..... :D How did you download that Rocket Dock theme seperately?
    Thanks in advance.

P.S I got Miranda to work, thank you very much. :thumb:

Right-click on Sidebar, select "Always on top". This changes opacity and draws a line to the left of the Sidebar. It also makes informer resize to its edge rather than overlap it, and when you maximise windows they will neatly stop at the edge too, so they never overlap your Sidebar Gadgets.

The only RocketDock theme is its background bar. I made that one myself; simply a black .jpg square of the correct dimensions and a white line as separator. Just hack one of the existing themes included with Rocket Dock. The icons you have to assign yourself; it takes either .png or .ico files. Deviantart.com does tons of Dock icons in both formats. 256x256 resolution icons work best.

    See above. :)
