    Without wanting to cause offence, perhaps we should consider our "oriental friends" (=nintendo) pronunciation (did I spell that right?) and try and work out how they got to the name....

    "tha wevowooshon iis wevowooshonwii...!!".

    Really poor branding. I'm not impressed at all. A console's name is the last thing that should provoke controversy.

    This Christmas, I was a Wii bit surprised that I received a Nintendo.

    In all honesty, the name is really growing on me (no Wii joke there! honestly!) Maybe this will keep developers from naming some games after the console like with the N64.

    At the risk of ostracism I actually like the name after reading the press release. I think that they are aiming at a particular image of this console being for all people. "I/You/Wii need this product". I think it could work.

    I'm also having visions of people playing with this console turning into the logo in the ad campaign.

    yeah, i like it too. everyone hates the official names after the codenames, everytime. i dont recall vista getting a warm reception either. but meh either way

    Nintendos publicity department have got what they wanted.

    EVERYONE is talking about their console, gone has the console war arguements and the specs.

    Everyone is just discussing this right now
