If you have a look on ebay you can get scart cables for retro consoles, although i'm presuming they've been made up by independent people and are not official ones.
You can also get the original Sonic games through the Wii Shop channel and Xbox Live Arcade/Marketplace iir. They did release Sonic for the Master System, but:
I quite enjoyed it on the Master system back in the day, granted the graphics and music aren't a patch on the Megadrive version but there were some cool levels that required quite a lot more skill and the boss fights were fun.
Word. Master System (and Game Gear) had Jungle Zone which was awesome and you had to find the chaos emeralds actually in the levels. Plus the super boingy boingy special stages were way more fun that the psycho-whirly-whirly-sickbag of doom.
Master System (II) > Megadrive imo, just because it's the console I remember playing these games on, never owned a megadrive myself the Master System seems to have sufficed. A little off-topic: Anybody remember this gem? We should all have insane APM with the amount of strain this game put on your fingers.
Exactly my thoughts. Which is what led to the purchase of the Master System as opposed to the Mega Drive. EDIT: Oh and theres still an old 27" crt television kicking round the house that will be used to play the system on. After seeing the awful results of my PS2 on a 42" 1080p screen I shudder at what a Master System would look like.
They both had some horrible games.. vs. The only Mario games I've owned were Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Game Boy and whatever the latest Mario Party is (if that counts). SMBD was probably the main contributing factor to my poor vision, that's one of the most frustratingly difficult games I've ever played. But Sonic.. Soft spot in my heart for Sonic. I have 1-3 for PC + Sonic CD + Sonic R, I had (I believe) Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic 3D Blast for the Genesis. I also have some strange Japanese pre-release version of Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. I enjoyed CD and 3D Blast more than any others. I don't understand the hate for Sonic 3D Blast, I thought it was really fun.. My parents basically made this decision for me. They bought me Sega consoles over Nintendo when I was young, I was the only kid without an N64 in school.. But I was also the only kid with NBA Jam (best game ever), Seaman, Power Stone 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom, etc. I vote Sonic.
This is skill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2CUjnnvcVo&feature=player_embedded Unfortunately I'm failing at embedding right now.
