well, I dunno when this will get done.. but bear with it.

this is a pretty standard beige case. its an inwin a500, my workplace has about 2 thousand of these cases (in use) I got tired of looking at them so I bought one and decided to leave a mark on it.

basically, my design was requiring that I make a circle. and what better way to do it than to grab one of my records.

at this point I applied the tape over the design

    This is the idea.

for furture reference, dont leave the paper behind the tape, just trace onto the tape, I've started many fires with this already, but im bearing with it.

A lot or people ask me about the "K"

and how it goues of the the circle.

this will be addressed by the paint job.

basically, the letters will be chromed. the case will be anodized blue with anodized red accents.

this is what ive got so far.

this project was put on hold for a long while back when I lost my job, I had more important matters obviously, so now that im back on my feet. I will begin to resume this project.

    looking good!

how do you only chrome parts of the surface/anodise around them?

arent those supports for the letters a bit flimsy!? i know its steel but still, be careful dude! btw, what are you cutting with?

good luck with the rest of the project, and welcome to bit-tech!

Masking tape is better than duct tape.
I have automotive spray paint I will be using on it.
yeah they are pretty thin, but thats part of the challenge, maintaining a steady cut and sanding it down to a smooth finish without breaking anything, after I do that, there will be a window applied to the backside of the case so that the letters will be supported by that.

I'm cutting with a dremel using #409 disks.

    it overheats, frequently :(

    thanks for the welcome :)

I'm on a few other forums as well but I admire the technical acuteness of the members on this one.

    Mmmmmm....dremel <drool>

phase: looks like he doesn't mean actually chroming it, he just means painting it chrome :thumb:
