I think it was from a movie or TV show I saw a while ago. Can't remember which one it was, though.

    Well,

There is a fine line between pedant grammar nazi and being correct. It is an issue though.

A slight excaggeration yes ;). And no, I'm afraid I don't use it due to the fact that I have a reasonable grasp of linguistic etiquette and don't wish to sound like a chav, although I suppose you could do a lot worse.

It does mean "isn't it?", but can be basically used as a way to emphasise what you've just said, almost "I challenge you to say that this isn't the truth!" So "Megan Fox is well hot, innit?" literally means "Megan Fox is very attractive, isn't this the truth?" As such, the usual responce to "innit" can either be "yes" or "no", as it is a question.

sotu1: Spell checkers are just to check spelling. It's not supposed to write anything for you. I use it very often, and it works great. If you want to have an near error free text you have to let somebody else read trough your text. Reading it yourself is pretty much useless. Spell check is also useless if you don't know how it works.

Do you by any chance get someone to deliver you your opinions by email every morning?

I don't quite understand how people always manage to spell poorly in threads about spelling. If any thread deserves a double check this one does! No doubt having complained about it i'll have made a mistake in this post!

    edit: i did :)

I suspect posts having uncaught spelling errors in threads about spelling help to spot the lazy and apathetic posters.
