AngelOD, the top of that res, did you just sand in one direction, or circular moves? It looks smooth, but the pictures could be decieving...

 

That was very diplomatic of you, Angel. Of all the possible cracks you could have made about Editor's love of Wiis, you went for the tamest one.

 

I suspect you are talking about the bottom of the acrylic res?
That done in a straight line. I taped the sandpaper to a table and sanded forward and back a million times!

Thanks - however, this doesn't help me much (not that you knew I was asking for help or anything...). I am looking for a way to create a very smooth finish on acrylics. Something that looks like it was sandblasted - only without the part that actually involves sandblasting, hehe... you think it could be done using sandpaper? Perhaps wetsanding with a very fine grain, say 800 or maybe even 1200?

 

Just a beautifuly designed and executed rez. Great job.

 

You'll still see the sanding marks. Maybe that spray on windows frosting? Not the crap that looks like snow, but the stuff that etches the glass.

 

That res right there is going to be the benchmark for all future reservoirs from now on.

Hope Angel doesn't mind me answering , but I've had a little experiment with this

The method I used was a random orbital sander , one that spins as well as making the small circular movement that normal orbitals make . I tried various grits from 120 to 800 and they all work , they just produce a slightly different finish . I tried it on clear to produce an opaque look ..... worked very well .

 

I'm not sure.... I still think that the res from "Dark Blade" set the bar for reservoirs even to this day. But it is a nice one that AngelOD half-built himself.

Dark Blade? Child please, that thing is soooo 2003-2007! Unfortunately I'd have to agree, Dark Blade is the most amazing mod ever done!

Right now I have a billion ideas for this! Not sure how and what to do, but time will tell!
The only thing I know for sure, is that if I go with one of the more insane ideas it will be make or break!

One idea - Mobo and GFX only for testing, they are both dead:



On to the rads. As I mentioned I'll have 2 loops, one red and one blue.

But black rad doesn't seem to fit in, so I gave them a quick spray:







And they do fit necely with the case itself!

I'm still debating with my alter ego, if I should spray the fan housing white as well...
