Thanks man. No unfortunately I don't have the money to stock up on fittings, but I bought 12 of each so that should get me through this one at least! :)

I must agree! I stumbled on it by luck, so I'm not complaining! :)

No doubt there are more fancy and good looking fittings out there, but the price of those could pay for a Sandy Bridge CPU, and the choice would be a no brainer for me!

    Thanks a lot man! :thumb:

Don't let all the skill on the forum put you down! For most of the people in here it's been a long period of learning. You learn by doing and watching what others do, so keep it up! :thumb:

Yup! Can't argue with you on that! :)

    I'm back! :)

Went to the workshop to find out my access card does not work on holidays! :(

Luckily it's brand new as the old one broke, and I therefore had a guest pass that I have not yet returned. :thumb:

First look of the controller for the dvd-drive:

Can't wait to see this in action with components on, and software written for it!

Finally I got the I/O plate done!

Usb/Gfx/Lan mounted - The holes for the audio were a bit too small so I'll get those done tomorrow or saturday:

Put in the case. This is just for testing, I'll set it with rivets when I know it's ready!

That's it for now. I hope to have more for you tomorrow! :thumb:

    Thanks a lot man! :)

Btw. I got the very first sleeving done. I actually didn't know that an SATA drive for a laptop was not a standard... I found that out! Adaptor sleeved:

That`s interesting! Did you manage to do the PCB by yourself? If yes, what method did you use? I`m using photoresist positive for transfering the PCB-design on the cooper of plate

Can`t wait for another update - give us MOOOREEE:rock:

@Shurika - I think it involved giving large amounts of alcohol to electrical engineers.

Back plate looks sweet. I do wonder why you labeled the connector type instead of "LAN" or "NET".

    Thanks man! :)

I didn't do the PCB myself. And although Cheaps may talk of alcohol, it's taking back a favor from some ph.d. students at work. :)

Although I mill out a lot of boards, I actually don't know the method of it! I'll try to find out! :)

Since you wonder I decided to play it safe by doing that. No-one knows if a user might be tempted to go out and by an RG58 cable if it only says "Lan" :p

It was just what I had in my mind at the time. But "Lan" might have been a better, yet not as nerdy, idea. :)

Actually the labels translate universally. They are standards. I approve.

Johns approval is standard. And i approve too.

It would be interesting to see if i could vector cut paths on a PCB...would open up a new world for me since the whole etching process is more of a bother to me. That and its messy.

    Hi!
I/O plate and VGA "pocket thing" are sweet! The wonderful plate has made come to my sick mind the urge to tatoo myself a i/o plate in a convenient spot...
Go Angel! Let the updates flow freely and abundant!

My college class made a TON of circuit boards. Single layer in 1980. I made LFO, VCO, ADSR, envelope generator, pitchblend, and many more.

Old skill. glad to see it still in use.

When the GodFather approves, the discussion is ended! :thumb: Thank you sir! :)

A couple of years ago we had a discussion at work about buying a mill designed for making PCB's. Nothing came of it, but I think it could have been cool! :)

Thanks a lot man! :) If you want a CAD-Drawing of it, let me know! :p

I respect every persons choice to do with their body as they see fit. But I must admit that my tattoos are made with the intent of never regretting them, and an I/O plate might not seem that interesting to me in 20 years!

Thanks Waynio! :) You know I do my best to please you guys! :)

Sometimes the basic idea is by far the easiest and smartest. :)

Thanks man! So am I... Oh yes, so am I! :)
