Anyone else finding Flash not playing ball. Everytime I go onto GoodgameEmpire (browser game in flash) it freezes firefox. Don't ever seem to get a crash message or plug container crash message. Also had it happen with a video on facebook, and a few other places IIRC.
Yes! I couldnt play anything over 480p on things like youtube etc. Its to do with browsers forcing html5 or whatever it is thses days. There is an an addon for ff that forces it to use the old way. Also check in ff settings to see if hardware acceleration is checked. This can also cause issues with flash so turn it off.
Microsoft improves activation process in Windows 10 http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/microsoft-improves-activation-process-windows-10 Emphasis added.
so you can do a fresh install of W10 and use your W7/8 key to activate? or have I read that wrong? lol
It's for the preview builds period. It's to close an activation loophole. Those who upgrade Windows 10 normally are fine, Those who upgrade to Windows 10 and then switch to the Insider Preview track are fine, and those who upgraded to Windows 10 Insider Preview during the preview period are fine. The problem was for those going straight from 7/8 to the Insider Preview were ending up outside of activation due to the previous key not being converted.
It would defeat the point of the free Windows upgrade offer (i.e. you need an existing live install to upgrade from). Even previous paid-for upgrades have required an install to verify from even if you;re doing a 'clean' install (with workarounds). I can't see Microsoft changing tactics now as they;re trying their hardest to make activation and reactivation transparent rather than the old typed-key-and-manual-activation fandango.
Hi please can anyone help? i have installed windows 10 3 times now and on each occaision it has gone well but i only get basic graphics. it appears my GTX 980 drivers are being disabled by windows and it reports error43 in the device manager. the control center shows as does geforce experience but they will not open. i have uninstalled and re installed with and number of the recent nvidia drivers doing clean install and removing any rogue files with DDU but without success and eventually give up and go back to windows seven. the only thing i have not tried is a clean install of windows which i am reluctant to do with the way things have gone up to now. has anyone got any ideas how i can sort this out or has anyone had a similar problem ?? Thanks Bc
@edzieba, From my understanding though the entering of a key is just an option available should it not automatically activate. EDIT: Also Gabe Aul even said in the original blog post. That defiantly sounds like you can do a clean install and just use the product key from prior Windows versions. It would seem odd if this didn't make it into the current branch (non preview builds) why else would they be testing it? It's not like you need a product key (afaik) to participate in the insider preview builds.
Turned off hardware accel, and it helped initially, but then it stopped working again, quick google shows it's pretty common on win10. Installed the flash player beta and no issues so far. *EDIT* Spoke too soon, flash froze just now. Damn thing. *EDIT 2* Just tried it in Edge, and it works perfectly. Must be a Firefox/Flash/Win10 issue rather than just Flash/Win10
Slightly related: I had display problems on a customer's laptop yesterday following a Windows 10 upgrade. After much faffing around trying different drivers (it was intel HD 3000 integrated) I discovered that a BIOS update fixed it. So if it hasn't been done already, try flashing your BIOS to the latest version. I'm still not sure why it made a difference, but it was definitely what fixed it. (unlikely to actually be relevant to yours since you're using a dedicated card, but y'know, I can't work out why it fixed it on that laptop either, but it did, so it's worth crossing off the list)
Hey guys, just upgraded to Windows 10. My SSD is fine, but my 1tb HD has gone missing. Disk Manager still sees it, but it won't show up as a disk I can use. It doesn't have an allocated Letter for it at all. Any ideas on what I can do?
Allocate it a letter? Right click drive in disk management -> Change Drive letter and Paths... -> Click Add -> Choose 'Assign the following drive letter'
Got another niggle, for some reason, one or more of my hard drives are being spun up and down, even though I've got "turn hdd off" set to never in power settings and I've disabled Link Power Management in Intel RST. I didn't get this in Win 7, not sure if it's Intel RST as I don't think I installed that under Win7. Getting annoying as it's quite a pronounced click as it spins up or down. I know one of my drives as some bad sectors on it, but that drive is nearly empty now, and it had the bad sectors and was in use under win 7 without clicking. Anyone had anything similar and got a solution? Been trying to google it, but it's not proving very successful.
I as thinking yesterday... am I able to do a fresh install of Windows 10? I have an XP key and a Windows 7 Pro upgrade key - every time I reinstalled Windows 7 I had to install XP first and do it incrementally as the work arounds to do a straight 7 install never worked.
If you do an Win 10 upgrade from Win 7, using windows update, then make sure Win 10 is activated, then yes you can then do a clean Win 10 install from media and it should then automatically activate, during the installation process, when it asks for a CD key, skip that step, and once your at the desktop with a internet connection, it'll activate itself.
yep this, after activating my windows 10 I did a fresh install from a disc I burnt from a downloaded iso, I tried my 7 pro key but did not work so skipped and after installation windows 10 activated with no key number, I guess it detects hardware
