I have been selling unneeded swords I found or looted for up to 480 crowns. Plenty of crap swords will only be worth 12-50 crowns a pop that's true but over time, if your selling all the stuff you loot, it mounts up rapidly. I was pretty poor until I started to really explore Valen more - then it snow balled to 5-6k, then I was a little poor again as I upgraded and crafted my way to better gear and then it stabilises again.
Its best to sell loot at designated shops, such as swords and armor at a blacksmiths and skins and such at merchants and alchemy ingredients at herbalists etc. There is a also a guy just outside Novigrad that buys trophies for more than the other merchants, think he was a herbalist but don't remember 100%. This way you get more money than you need. Just now I have around 13000 orens or so, no idea how many florens.
Good tip as I have been flogging stuff to anyone who has cash and happened to be near. Tried to take on a wraith way higher than my level, ouch. Lol.
My problem with merchants is how dirt poor they are! Even with my favourite blacksmith - The Dwarf and his wife combo - I can only sell a few things to them at a time before they go "waaaa, no money" and I have to craft **** to give them money to empty my inventory!
Hey, I murder fifty things and steal their ****, I'm selling that rotting meat even if I have to ride to another village
I am the same. I kill and loot and sell. But there is a hell of a lot of hidden loot scattered about. I have found some half decent swords and armour that way
There really is, I'm glad I found the +70 weight saddlebags not too long ago, I keep finding hoards of longswords that no one really wants anymore! I am struggling to find better weapons right now, though. Everything seems to be 30-40dmg lower than what I'm currently holding, which is only ~440 for the silver sword and ~570 for the steel sword.
I wish I could, I've been visiting every location lately, so the best I can offer is in Velen somewhere.. I think they were near the massive nilfgaardian camp, but I've been so many places I'm not even sure where I am now. There were a couple of bandit camps or something to the upper left of the Nilfgaardians I think. Edit: Nope, apparently not. Google tells me it was either a trader in Oreton or something in Novigrad. Betting Oreton, because I've not hit Novigrad yet.
I've got that +70 bag as well, it makes life so much better. You can get it in Oreton, Velen located a little way Southeast from Midcopse. I believe it costs around 300 to buy. Apparently, there's also a 100+ one somewhere in Novigrad... seen a few videos with it, though I haven't seen it in any shops myself so it might unlock after a certain mission.
I will need to remember that as I have not been there yet. EDIT: Is there a simple way to find the quest objective marker on the map?
Here's a shot of the map location of the town (sorry about the poor quality, I'm in the office so on a painfully slow connection):
Yeah, I was reading about the Novigrad on, you have to complete a particular quest before you get access to that area at all. If there is I don't know it Kronos! I always spend ages looking if it's more than 1000 paces away. I'd like some sort of little arrow on the edge of the map indicating at least which direction to scroll!
Whole set of tweaks and fixes in the latest patch. Think you'll enjoy this one Kronos... - Deploys the Bovine Defense Force Initiative. Basically prevents you slaughtering the cattle in White Orchard again and again!
With GOG are the patches installed automatically? Something keeps putting a Witcher icon on my desktop when I shut down the game. No idea why. As for the cow killing got bored with that anyway. I seem to be making enough cash now. Managed to craft two great swords and then found I cannot use them as I have not leveled up enough. Do I assume correctly that you can upgrade your abilities or signs if so how?
Press backspace, select character and pick ability to level up. Also you need to be aware that to actually activate said abilities you will need to slot them, just drag and drop there. Mutagens will give bonuses in the side slots.
On the signs tab of the character/abilities panel, you can upgrade the effects of the signs. Think it's the blue tab.
