You get used to it. I am rubbish at blocking so I tend to roll out of danger and I never lock on to an enemy anyway as the only time I did I found it unhelpful.
I have that one (the +100). Its in a hidden area only accessible part way through a main quest. Will try to find it tonight.
That video is hilarious, . I suck at riposte, , also it's not as easy when you're fighting non-humans, and if you've got a bunch of them on you, it's harder (try a swarm of nekkers). And I'm sure the larger opponents you got riposte against, possibly not even block against as they're so much bigger than you. I've not even tried blocking against the golem I'm fighting atm as I just assume it won't work.
I've been collecting the rare weapons and Witcher Sets. The sword 'Emmentaler' cracks me up. Such a funny quest. Everyone always seems to go for the Bear set but i'm more of a mage/sign character. I've been using the Griffin Set, really good for people who use signs as it has a sign intensity buff.
Looked at that video for about 3 minutes. Not my idea of having fun, which surely is what playing computer games is about. Seemed like a complete waste of time.
Countering mainly only works with humans for me also. The animals and monsters are tougher than people. Also, I think that guy is missing the point of death march. I didn't think it made enemies much harder, but your regeneration abilities took a hit.
Imo the combat in the game is really enjoyable, but I will admit it takes some getting used to. But once you've ´mastered´ it's really good. The trick is to know your opponents weaknesses and being able to dodge, block and counter attack against the right opponents and at the right time. Better than most RPG's in any case.
I have just completed a quest "Get Junior" plenty of killing if you want to play that way so good practice of combat skills and even managed a block or two. And what made it a good quest you were not roaming all over the place and back again which I do find tedious at times.
OK it is not, obviously a FPS and apart from Skyrim This is new to me. I am actually enjoying the game. Yes there is a steep learning curve but with much help I have had here I am spending at least 5 hours a day playing this game. Long time since a game has kept me interested, I have a routine, chores during the morning, once done then gaming is allowed, And I am really enjoying the whole experience.
I'm pretty much in the same boat. been a long time I have consistently played a game. Normally I chop and change pretty quickly.
I find now that my level has increased high enough that I now encounter flying monsters. Though I am a bit bewildered as to A) How all the peasants survive with all the monsters roaming the land? and B) How do they find enough crowns to pay me?
I find riposte pretty hard in this so my technique has evolved to be: dodge, dodge, dodge, sign, light or heavy attack depending on the speed of the monster, rinse and repeat. Seems to work well for the moment, I'm also using feline armour which is great for this playstyle
