DAILY DEAL: Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC £22.22 cdkeys.com Not sure if this is low enough to tempt me. Not really being my type of game.

Must say after a slowish start, now I'm at lvl 15, there is just so much to do and see. The story is so far shaping up really nicely, really well done, enjoying the sidequests and witcher contracts, and despite the occasional annoyance I'm loving it. The more I play it, the more immersed I'm getting. This is definitely the best of the 3 and now that I'm back into it, and have my dodging and parries down, combat is really good.
I'm loving it, GTA V has been fully abandoned for this, also now listening to the Witcher audiobooks in work for full immersion factor
It's the sort of game that doesn't hold your hand and you end up experimenting a great deal to figure out how the mechanics work. Be it combat or trading goods and upgrading character stats. Not an easy game by any means but in the end it is rewarding! I'm not typically an RPG fan but took a gamble on The Witcher 2 and been hooked on this series ever since.
A few points from my experience so far- Postive: Excellently crafted world. Music & Audio work, including voice acting is great. Graphics - bit of a hot topic right now but I think they are good, with reasonable performance and it is very impressive given how large the open world is, not a load zone in sight! Characters & Story are also another strong-point - complete the bloody Barron 'family matters' story arc and tell me they have not succeeded in creating multi-layer characters. Dynamic weather, day night cycles - adds nicely to the atmosphere, even down to how the trees move differently as the wind picks up. Good secondary quests - not just open world padding. Geralts beard - it grows as I play... and you can have have it shaved! a few miss steps for me have been: The save import feature is terrible - showing me ALL of my previous TW2 save-games and not the 'complete' save games, with an overview of major choices made (similar to mass effect fyi). I had had to use the new game-simulate saves option to get some of the major choices imported but there are many other factors (like characters missing or being hostile) which go against my own play-through. I have seen a few stuck animations on random NPC characters and have found the horse doesn't always run through archways or across bridges properly. gog galaxy patcher failing to correctly update the game. The game feels a bit off pacing wise - no doubt due to it's open world nature, a few quests I have done have felt like natural move on points and going back to some of those locations after the event seemed a bit lacking, with nor a mention of the recent big event. In TW2 when these things happen, you tend to move on. This might not bother some people but I have always been sensitive to pacing in films and games. Overall I am really impressed with the quality of the game and have enjoyed nearly every second of being immersed in its world!
Loving this game but the cut scene parts can be long and drawn out, i am loving the scenery and slowly getting better at the combat side of it. I have started doing some side quests just to break up the main story line. I am still struggling with the crafting and overall use of the inventory menu side of things but i am sure i will slowly piece it together.
A word to the wise about werewolves the Bestiary doesn't mention Axii but its a really good way to keep him still while he's trying to run off and regen, then just get as many hard attacks in as you can, step away before he attacks, rinse and repeat.
Finished it this morning - ~35 hours with no sidequests other than the ones I did accidentally while doing something important! Bloody good story, very enjoyable romp, and man, some characters just got on my nerves so much I was itching to kill them! Feels like, with side quests, it'd be about the same as the first one at around 80 hours, which is sweet. Going to have to see about replaying and doing them all.
Congrats and glad you enjoyed it! Shame that you skipped the side quests, I have been weaving them into the main story and I think it's better for it. I ran into Letho last night on a random side quest in one of the many peasant villages I stumbled into.
Side quests usually bug the **** out of me, some lazy git stood around not wanting to fetch something ten minutes away, bleugh. That said, I know The Witcher isn't exactly like that, so I'll probably get stuck in on the stupidly hard difficulty sometime this week since I'm off work.
Only just spotted this query, sorry! I have no idea: I'm just 'ere for the news. There's nothing on the shared calendar about a review, but that doesn't mean much. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one: it's a pretty big release, after all.
Many side quests in the game are better written than main quests in many other games. The game take immersion to another level in my humble opinion. Just now getting into the main quest, been busy larking about doing random quests and just enjoying it all. Probably about 100 hours into the game or more.
Have to agree it's an amazing game, I am loving it. You can get it for less than £18 now from Kinguin which is bonkers. I put a a link to it somewhere in here earlier.
I used to play nothing but FPS, i then hit a stale patch where i couldnt be bothered with the FPS games i had. Picked this up on the market place for £15 and never played the previous 2 games but i am really enjoying it, slowly away completing side quests etc. If you can get it at a cheap enough price i would recommend it
I play all sorts of games, and I admit I'm a fan of the Witcher series anyway. Still, this is £50 on steam on release a few days ago, has had rave reviews everywhere, so at this sort of price I'd say it's worth a shot. Less than £18 should get you in excess of 100 hours of play, I'm really enjoying it, taking my time doing as many of the secondary and sidequests as possible. So, why not give it a go? Who knows you might like it and expand your gaming experience from just FPS for the cost of 2 packs of cigs and a pint.
I did that one and got the bad ending, considering whether to go back and redo it, but i should probably just live with my mistakes
