Just wondering if anyone can advise me on graphics card for this game.

Currently I am running this game on

    Core 2 Duo E8400
    6GB
    Nvidia 8600GTS

with medium texture quality with some low setting (water etc) + most of special effects off(track, sniper mode effect etc) and I usually get between 30-40fps.

Can anyone please advise me a graphics card that i can play with High settings with my core 2 system without losing fps? don't wanna spend more than £70 (may be will look for a used card)

OR is it just not possible with my core 2 ?

    Thanks in advance :)

My recommendation would probably be a second hand (or refurbished) 1GB GTX460 if you can get hold of one. I know Ocuk had some refurbs in of them a couple of weeks ago. If go much higher than that then the rest of he system could begin to be a bottleneck. Even so that would happily have you pumping out 40+ fps with everything at least on high I reckon.

EDIT: actually NickCPC has a 560Ti for £ 80 in the marketplace right now. If you could stretch to that it would see you safe for a good 2-3 years. With a 560 Ti I had tanks running maxed @1920x1080 and it never dropped below 45 fps. I know it's more than you wanted to spend but it'll really save you in the long run

    Thanks a lot mate! :thumb:

£80 for 560Ti is really good price but unfortunately i don't have access to market place now :sigh:

was looking at GTX460 on ebay and most people's asking price is between £70-£80 :wallbash:

wait till you get the L70, you can pen any tank you come up against when you learn where to shoot ( or in the case of the T29, where NOT to shoot :thumb:

The Stug III with the L/70 is still my favourite tank, with the KV-1S with the 122mm coming a close second.

the problem I faced when upgrading from the Hetzer to the Stug was learning you can't play as a Hetzer. I got use to bouncing a lot of shells in the Hetzer, something the Stug isn't so good at.

    Camo net is handy

    Chinese T-34 or KV1?

I've got both of them unlocked and I'm trying to figure out what to buy first.

What's the best way to play the KV-1? Do you wait for scouts to find a hole and drive through it or what?

I think either will be a completely different play style for me since I'm used to playing support. Every time I try to scout I get annihilated immediately, but if I find a rock to hide behind and snipe I'm deadly. In my T-28 with the ZiS-4 I consistently get kills clear across the map, so long as someone can spot for me. I play the M5A1 Stuart basically the same way, though sometimes I will try to get behind the lines with it. Got 6 kills with it on live oaks the other day :D

The KV-1 IMHO only becomes awesome with the 85mm, I wouldn't bother with the 122mm you can get, it's painful at best.

With the KV you can get up close a personal in most cases and just pound away at them. Russian optics and guns aren't snipers in any way, so you want to close the gap as best you can.

Let your tracks soak most the damage.

I've not played the T-34 as I wanted the KV-1 and then the awesome KV-1S :)

T-34 is possibly my best tank, with the zis-4 installed it's awesome. Beats the KV-1 hands down.

I hated the KV-1, I'm glad I had it when it was still the KV and linked to the KV-2, I would have hated to have had to research and save up for seperate tanks.

I think I'm going to try the KV-1 first. I'm going to get them both eventually, but it would be really nice to have something non-spongy for a change. While the T-28 is a medium on paper, it's really more like a light with a big gun. Fast, minimal armor, and a very long ranged, accurate gun. I'm probably playing it like you would a TD, but hey, it works.

I've decided that I'm keeping both the T-28 and M5A1. Now that I have figured out a role for each they're highly effective.

Still trying to figure out the psychology of the other players though. So many would rather lose then win by capping. I've even had players threaten to TK anyone who caps. Granted, it seems to be getting better in the higher tiers, but still...

The most exasperating variation on this is on encounter maps when both teams rush at each other and completely ignore the cap. On Himmelsdorf encounter battles everyone heads for the hill which has to be the LEAST important position on the map to hold.

great news on keeping your T28...
    I love T28s...
    when driving my SU-26 ^_^
can one shot it if I get a high enough roll, but even if not, its crippled

the Kv is very not spongy but you should learn to angle yourself a tiny bit, never drive straight onto someone, try to keep your nose a 5-10 degrees, if his shot hits your side, it will almost certainly bounce, and if it hits your nose, the angle will increase your armour thickness a bit to encourage the shot to bounce, its also slightly harder for people to hit you as they will have to lead the shot a little, and at teir5, there are still a few auto aim noob's who will miss you

Actually, capping is so slow on Encounter and Assault battles that you rarely win by capping alone (unless the other team are complete idiots). You do need someone around the base to stop the other team capping, but then you just wait for the main force to roll around and mop up the enemy. That's why Himmelsdorf hill is popular - not as a location to hold, but as a self-contained area where numerical superiority can be used to full effect, that gives access to the rear of the enemy lines. Once you have the enemy surrounded, you have as good as win.

Instead of going hill on Himmelsdorf (encounter) I head down and snipe the enemy from below with little or nothing stopping me from doing so, I can also quickly reset the cap if needs be. I get lots of xp doing this.
