I think a lot of people's choices will follow from the previous console generation. Those who have a good achievement score or a certain amount of trophies will choose their console based on that
The game is coming on PC, XBox 360, PS3, and WiiU. You can use the XBox 360 controller (and most likely XBox One controller as well) with your PC.
Just read that Amazon UK has listed the Xbox One's price at £599.99. Ridiculas price if you ask me. Sam
Amazon UK lists most preorder things at ridiculous price. You even have that explained on the product page :
It basically allows them to come down and say we have saved you cash on your pre order so here is your refund. Problem is if you want to pre order via amazon your paying £600 thats what it will show on your credit card statement. I know the last book i got on pre order they took payment about 2 months before release about a week after release i got a £1.57 refund due to reduction.
According to gi.biz apparently the damn thing is region locked as well. This just keeps getting better
Tosh, Amazon don't charge pre-releases until the day of shipment. It even says this in black and white on the website. They also only charge on that shipment day the current price (not the one it was when you first placed the order), with any refunds taking place if the price then changes during the time between shipping and official release. This might illuminate matters: For items with a future release date, the Amazon.co.uk price may change between the time of order and the date the item is dispatched. We don't charge you until we dispatch an item; therefore, when you pre-order selected books, CDs, videos, DVDs, pieces of software or video games, you'll be charged the lowest price offered by Amazon.co.uk between the time the order was placed and the item's release date. If the price is lowered on the release date and your order has already been dispatched, we'll automatically refund the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price.
Tax evasion or avoidance aside, Amazon are a good company to be fair. My family and I only have positive customer service stories.
I swear by Amazon too, both as a shop and as a marketplace, but I wouldn't preorder stuff there. Not because they're untrustworthy but just because preorders are a duff concept and there's no point any more: in most cases it doesn't amount to any savings and increases the likelihood of buyer remorse (it creates a feeling of commitment and inflates your expectations). Maybe a month before release, when the prices have been set and the details and competition are all out in the open, but this early it'd be throwing money into a black hole. Unrelated: I wonder if the 360 controllers will work on the XBO...
I read 360 controllers won't work. Another reason not to buy for me - One controllers will be more advanced but that shouldn't preclude older hardware from being compatible. Nintendo and PC score points here because of their support for legacy games and hardware. Not sure what Sony's approach on the PS4 will be.
The controllers are being linked to screen position (Which is an amazing feature if you ask me), hence existing controllers won't be compatible. Everyone is being so negative, we're moving forward! Imagine if we never moved from PCI to PCI Express because "Oh, my 6 year old legacy devices won't work..."
Motherboard still have PCI. Just absolutely recently, you start seeing some boards (mostly extreme high end) that don't have PCI slot anymore. And there was a period where you have motherboard with PCI-E and AGP as well. PC's a horrible example for what you trying to convey. They have the strongest legacy and backward compatible support. I think just in the past few years we finally forgo the serial and parallel ports. And Windows, also has the an incredible legacy support system in place.
Not a feature I would consider worth paying £30+ each for new controllers. And just because it can do that with new controllers, that doesn't have to mean older controllers can't be used in their conventional manner. If the new features were so ****-hot owners would choose to buy them anyway, but as it is owners aren't getting the choice. I don't even own a 360 - but it's the approach of MS to show no support for legacy that is a factor in me not choosing to invest.
My SNES controllers dont work on my N64 or on my Wii. I would also be hard pushed to find a game on the Wii where N64 controllers are preffered. Personally i think this controller issue is irrelevant. You get a controller with the console ( 2 if you're lucky ). I had 4 perfectly good wheels/tyres on my Citroen C2. Shame i can't use them on my Vaux Astra.. didn't stop me from buying it though.
You guys are having a fit over controllers not working? Seriously? Name me a single console that is compatible with the previous generation's controllers? (With exception of the Wii using GCN controllers for GCN games, and the Wii U using Wii Remotes, as there isn't a new replacement). Whenever a new controller is launched with a new system, the old ones don't work. I had to replace my DualShocks with DualShock2s, and then with SIXAXIS/DualShock3s, and have ordered an extra two DualShock4s to go with my PS4. It's simply how the system works. Get over it!
